I need to replace the belt on my eureka canister vac. have the belt and screwdriver, now what? how to get the housing off? etc.

Can you please specify the type of model that you have? The model that you listed this repair question under, the S3686 doesn't even have a belt on the vacuum cleaner. The model number can be found on the bottom of the vacuum on a sticker that also contains the serial number.

Please just use the clarification request form here on Fixya, and I will then even take some pictures on how you need replace the belt.

Eureka 2971 vacuum

The duster on this unit is just that a duster the holder for it is to vacuum it off when your not using it it doesn't have anything to do with the vacuum cleaner really. As for the power pawl it is a air driven upholstery nozzle the suction air passes through a turbine which in turn spins the brush agitating whatever it is your cleaning ie. sofa, steps. Simply attach it to the end of the hose and your off just be sure to try and clean any hair or debris for the unit it will not work if the air flow is cut off. Eureka the boss upright bagless vacuum. How do I open it to get to the belt area? The brush seems stuck. It won’t move.
Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Knowing the brand name and model number for the vacuum but I can give you a generic way of changing the belt. You 1st need to remove the bottom plate by screws, levers or clips, then you can get @ the belt, if not then you should remove the top cover and then you can get @ the belt. 1st remove the belt from the brushroll and install the new belt on the pulley side of the brushroll and then use a belt puller or a screwdriver with a bend on the end and then stretch the belt onto the motor pulley and then track the belt in a straight line so that is running in a straight line. Replace the bottom plate and the belt change should be done. Please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area.

So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

How do I change the belt on a Eureka Mighty Mite II.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Normally the Mighty Mite II does not have a belt unless you have the model with the turbo head and then I believe it is a geared belt and then you can pup the belt from your local vacuum cleaner dealer or the Eureka factory parts dept. there are 2 to 4 screws on the bottom of the turbo head and then I believe the top will come up and then you can get to the belt. The average belt change is every year if it is a geared belt for the best cleaning or if you have a flat belt it is every 4 to 6 months. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

How to change Vacuum belt?

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
Not knowing the name brand or model # most vacuums belt change from the bottom or by removing the top cover to change the belt for an upright, if you have a bottom plate remove the bottom plate and remove the belt, make sure the brushroll spins free and does not have any thread or hair buildup, once that is done slide the belt onto the brushroll pulley and then stretch the belt onto the motor pulley, once on the 2 pulleys then tract the belt and replace the bottom plate – plug in and turn on to check. If you have the type where the top cover comes off it is then the same procedure listed above for the brushroll and belt. If you have a canister with a powerhead there are 2 or 3 screws on the bottom and the top cover would come off and then follow the procedure just like the upright. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Took apart turbo brush and don't know where to put belt to make brush spin...what two things should it connect?

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
There are 2 types of Turbo Brushes, the electric type driven by a power head or power nozzle most likely used on a canister type vacuum or a central vacuum driven by electricity and there is an air driven power head. In either case the belt should be riding on the brushroll pulley on the end or if it is an air driven power head, sometimes the pulley section is in the middle, and the other end would run off the motor pulley / shaft. If you have a flat belt it is suggested that you change the belt every 4 to 6 months, if you have a geared belt, suggested change would be one year or so. I am not sure on the Brand of turbo brush you have, but you can refer to your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or the yellow pages, or contact the manufacturer for a phone # or website address, some times if you have a air driven turbo power brush it may be cost efficient to replace the brush instead of repairing the turbo brush. Just a suggestion.
Example: www.turbobrush.com – this may or may not be the website address not knowing the brand name.

Brushroll not spinning
Posted by vistaloopy on Mar 19, 2008
I have a Eureka Bagless Optima 431 Lightweight Upright that is not working. I took it apart to clean the brushroll and have tried to put it back together several times, but the brushroll will not spin anymore. Maybe I'm putting the belt in the wrong spot? Where can I find a diagram or something?

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Eureka 431A Optima Bagless Upright Vacuum. You have only 2 choices, the belt is either side driven belt or the belt is a center driven belt and the brushroll has one side that is for the belt and the side driven brushroll and the motor pulley must be in line in order to work properly, you may want to check the bearing holders, some vacs will mark the ends with words like NEW or USED and both have to be identical in order to fit right. Once you have the brushroll out it should spin if you set it on it’s side and if that happens you are OK, then watch the ends of the brushroll. Align the end with the motor pulley, B4 install the belt place the belt on the pulley side and install the brushroll. Then once the brushroll is in and spins properly, and then you can use a belt puller and stretch the belt onto the motor pulley and then track it in a straight line. If you need further help please feel free to contact your local vac dealer in your area. Euro-Pro head cranky

The air driven head is probably bond up and needs to be cleaned. Alot of the air driven ones have a belt that may be broken or stretched.
