Moving my fridge on it's side or at an angle

You can lay it down but if you do, when you stand it up, wait 24 hours before you plug it in to turn it on. The reason is because the oil in the cooling system has to settle after being layed down.

Can you move this refrigerator by laying it on its back? and if so how long do you have to wait after you put it upright before you plug it in

Although it is not recommend to transport on its back, it can be done if you block the conpressor up and pad it.

BUT you should always let the refrigerator stand upright for 6 hours for just major tilts, so I would highly recommend 24 hours to be safe if you transported it on its back.

I am moving and need to lay the fridge on its side, but have been told you cannot do so, is this correct?

You do not want to lay that refrigerator on its side because the refrigerant will leave the compressor and fill the system with liquid refrigerant where it should only be existing in a gaseous state, and if the refrigerator is tilted far enough over or lay-ed onto its side then the refrigerator will have to stand up-right and un-plugged for at least 24 hours before the liquid refrigerant will settle back down where it belongs, and then the refrigerator should actually function again if there was no other damage caused when moving the unit.

Cool down period for plasma TV for transport.

I believe 20 minutest just enough. But when you bring it back from cold outside to your new home it have to stay/warm 2-3 hours before you plug it in.

Can I transport my brand new Whirlpool on it's side?

It's certainly not recommended because you can fill and clog the refrigerant lines with oil from the compressor.

IF YOU MUST...your chances are better if you leave it upright for an hour or so before plugging it in. This allows the oil to drain back into the compressor. This period should be appreciable longer in cold weather as the oil is thicker.

Can I transport a whirpool side by side refrigerator / freezer, laying it down on it's side for 5 hours? If when I reach my destination I stand it upright for 48 hrs. before I plug it in.

The short answer is yes, but the key is to make certain not to plug in and start the fridge for at least 24 hours once it is upright and in the final location.

The reasons manufacturers caution against transporting/moving a fridge on it's side also has to do with the possibility of damaging the doors and hinge plates. The big reason is because people tend to want to start filling up their new fridge with food right away, so they plug it in once it's in their house.

If a fridge has been shipped on its' side, the compressor oil tends to wick/flow into the piping and can cause a failure, if not allowed to drain back into the compressor when the fridge is placed back upright.

Although not the best way to transport, you can do it if you allow time for things to settle back before powering it up.

When moving the fridge with a built in door dispenser do I need to plug something first before the move? Do I need new lines after the move?

You can cover the lines to prevent any contamination but it is not necessary, the main thing in moving a refrigerator is to keep it upright during the move. If this is not possible and you have to lay it on its side, wait for at least 12 to 24 hours before plugging it in when you arrive at your new home.

If it is transported on its side and you plug it in too soon you can get liquid refrigerent in the compressor, which will knock it out leading to costly repair and replacment.

did you tilt it prior to plugging it in you are supposed to wait 12 to 24 hours to plug them in if theyve been tilted at any time during transport.
