Question about GE Refrigerators

1 Answer

Our GE TFX22PPDA started oozing a sticky brown substance from the bottom left corner of the freezer door. We defrosted the freezer and cleaned out the drain. Next we checked the drip pan under the frig, which is full of brown water (source?). The door is still dripping. What do we do?

My refrigerator was leaking a brown substance that drained down the back of the refrigerator to the bottom. What is this brown substance and how can it be fixed?

Hi. Fridge freezer, bottom of freezer freezes and door stick,s many people have had this problem any cure any cure for this. thank you Mr R Burrell

Check to see if there is any ice forming in the freezer in the bottom. You may have a clogged drain and the water is backing up. Also check to see if the door seal around the freezer door is sticky, if so clean with something that will remove sticky substance. You may have spilled something on it.

A few days ago I noticed that the bottom of my freezer side of the fridge was covered in about 1/2 inch of ice. It goes all the way from the back of the freezer up to where the door seals...and the door...

its not doing a defrost by itself you need to replace the defrost heater/defrost termination sensor/thermostat/defrost timer could be any one of these parts causing this problem you need to test each part with a multi-meter to determine what needs replacing.

try defrosting it manually. unplug it and let it sit with the doors open for about 4-5 hours and make sure the doors close and seal all the way.

FROST BUILD UP IN FREEZER AND REFER NOT COLD ENOUGH

hello.

  • Defrost the freezer
  • Clean the condensor coils
  • Check the door seals
  • Test the door switch
  • If you recently adjusted the temperature control, loaded the refrigerator or are in a humid location, it is not uncommon for a refrigerator to run for 24 hours or more before getting cool.

GE Side by side runs constantly.

The timer that controls the defrost cycle/function, may have failed and there may be no defrosting occurring. If icing of the coils due to the missing defrost cycle, there may not be enugh circulation left to keep the thermostat happy.

Try defrosting it manually (I know, it's a pain - aren't we spoiled?) and see if the compressor then cycles for a few days before it starts running continuously again.

And for Dr. Fred, the above suggestion about trying manually defrosting applies to your problem too.
The exposure to overnight moisture (ice accumulation) may have interfered with the automatic cycle.
