What is the correct speaker connection configuration for 5.1 surround and 4 outdoor speakers for stereo music?

I am trying to run 4 outside speakers through this unit. I am also running a 5.1 indoor surround setup. What is the proper speaker connection? Oh and the AV unit is a Yamaha RX-V659

Use a speaker switch box but amp may switch off at higher volumes.
Hope this helps.

You could use a Speaker Switch. You can find an ione at: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/4-pair-stereo-speaker-selector/9746779.p;jsessionid=A65E902544159CF276BC147D7BE1F696.bbolsp-app02-185?id=1218166511087&skuId=9746779&st=categoryid$abcat0107032&cp=1&lp=1#tab=overview

Pioneer VSX 1020K - Zone 2 Setup

I referred to a similar zone 2 arrangement for a Yamaha receiver. It shows a separate amplifier and notes that only analog signals are sent to zone 2. The analog output from a source must be connected to the analog input on your Pioneer unit for zone 2 to work. Your outdoor music environment will be limited to left and right front speakers and...alas...no surround

Sound not playing correctly via the speakers on the monitor Back ground music but no voice

sounds to me like you may have the monitor speakers connected to the wrong port. It typically connects to the computers Green speaker jack. If it is connected properly, look in the control panel for audio/ speaker properties, change the speaker configuration to stereo speakers, instead of 5.1 speakers. you are likely hearing the rear channel of 5 speaker setup at the moment.

Problem getting the best surround sound when watching a dvd

THE BEST SOUND IS WHAT SOUNDS BEST TO YOU, HOWEVER DO THIS:
1, USING THE SETUP MIC CONFIGURE YOUR DENON, PAGE 8 OF THE MANUAL. NEXT
2. RAISE THE REAR SPKR LEVELS, PAGE 46,47. NEXT
3. WHEN LISTENING TO AUDIO CD OR RADIO TRY THE 5 CH STEREO DSP MODE.
4. WHEN WATCHING A DVD USE DSP DOLBY PROLOGIC OR TRY 5CH STEREO IF THE MOVIE IS MOSTLY TALKING.
5, TRY 5CH STEREO WHEN WATCHING PROGRAMS WITH MOSTLY TALKING

Wiring speakers to amp for both 5.1 channel and 4 speaker listeni

I am assuming that you want to have a normal stereo ( 2 channel ) from, CDs, Radio Etc.. To be able to play from all of your speakers for a more surrounding sound experience, for parties or just more sound. I am also assuming you currently have your speakers wired like standard 5.1 in the bottom diagram on page 19 of your receiver manual. To change the way the sound is coming from your speakers you will need to refer to the “Sound Field Programs” part of your manual starting on page 52. You will want to be in the input source you would like to change “ie: radio” Let assume you want to change radio, once the radio is on; Rotate the “N” Program selector, (or press “5” and then “12” Prog < /> repeatedly ). You will want to change to program, “7ch Stereo” this should take your 2ch signal and send it to all connected speakers. If this does not work, please let me know.

Add 2 speakers outside on a 6 speaker surround sound and hear all

You won`t get surround sound mix with 2 speakers, you can have a 2nd zone but this will only play a "Stereo Sound" if you have that playback option with the SC-RT50, what you will need is a speaker selector switch or better known as an A & B switch, this will ideally run from the front left and right speaker output of the receiver into the A & B switch then run into each pair of speakers inside or outside, what is common nowdays are receiver that are known as 2nd zone connections where you can have 2 sets of speaker in different rooms, unfortunatly the SC-PT50 does not have this option.

I can't hear voices when i play a dvd on my computer, just background sounds. i've tried many different dvd players (windows media, apple, etc) and have also checked my settings for mono or stereo speakers...

You should also check your DVD playback software and make sure that you have it set for desktop/laptop speakers and NOT for something like 5.1 or 7.1 surround etc.

Trouble with Speaker 5.1 +Vista + Asus P5k Motherboard. No Rear Speaker sound

Hi Perseo,

If you run through a speaker test in windows, and hear playback from all 5 speakers and the subwoofer, then your system is correctly connected, and working properly.

Vista uses a layered sound system that renders sound a bit differently than what you're used to on your previous system. As a result, it will most often refuse to project stereo sources in 5-channel surround, on it's own. it will just play them as stereo, and the bass will fill in whenever it can.

One possible way you could use to get around this, is to force the system to use all 5 speakers, through the driver. If you're using a realtek onboard card anything like mine (I have a p5k-VM board myself), this can be done by opening up the HD Audio Manager, and selecting the "Speaker Fill" option, under the Speaker Configuration" tab.

another option would be to load your media player you use to play music or movies, and see if there's an option to change speaker settings within the programs.

hope this helps!
