Hi.qx 900.1 d phoenix gold amp recently had a little melt down. When I opened the case, I noticed that two smaller axial capacitors in the centre of the board have burnt up, and caused enough heat to burn through the board. It also melted a bit of the copper trace on both sides of the board. However, the amplifier still powers on, and it looks like only one other component in the vicinity was damaged by the heat.
The amp is several years old, so warranty is not even in its vocabulary right now. As a result, I would like to replace the components myself. However, since the components are burnt, I am not able to get the part numbers off them. Also, since some of the copper traces melted, I am not certain of how to repair them.
I was wondering if it would be possible for you to send me a schematic of the area of the board, as well as the part numbers of the components that I mentioned above, so that I can repair it.
Phoenixphorum.com is a GREAT resource for help. QX amps were not as popular as some of the other lines (M/MS/MPS, Ti, X, Tantrum etc...) but was still a decent working amp. Some of the guys on the Phorum might be able to help you out.
also contacting PG direct (or Rodin), they may be able to give you some pointers..(no guarantee....but you never know!)
What were u running from it...?
