Bulge plate touching new element- will this be a problem?

I ordered a part from ebay seller who swore this was the correct part. Took me ages to fit as cant get oven out to access the back.... When finally got around to placing the bulge plate back on I found the element is too large and sticks out .5mm more than the old one. Will it matter if the element is touching or will I have to go through the rigmarole again and get a new part?

thanks for your help!. I needed to use it last night so i places a nut on both bulge plate mounting screws to make it sit out and not touch the element.- not sure what this will do to the heat flow as there is now a gap at edges all the way around. Might just take the bolts out??

SOURCE: WHY CANT I TAKE ELEMENT OUT

If you cannot remove screws from inside oven compartment, then, yes, it will be neccescery for you to remove the oven from it's housing to gain access to the screws from the rear.

Where do I get a fan element from?

You don't say what oven it is but if you go online to ebay or type in your make and model then a number of appliance sellers will pop up and search through them. Its not a major job to change the element, make sure the cooker is isolated at the main switch. Someone with basic DIY skills and a modest toolkit should do it no problem. You will need the machine data off a sticker that's usually on the back of the machine. Make sure the replacement matches the current one exactly. You will find that element may fit a range of ovens, check the machine serial numbers carefully. If you have the original purchase paperwork there is usually a panel in the back with duplicate numbers so look there first.

Flavel milano e60 how to fit new fan oven element that is riveted

That is complete RUBBISH the screws are accessible from the rear of the oven. At the back remove the screws holding the plate and you will see the element housing. Remove the two screws and the spade connections. Get someone to hold the new element in place for you and attached the screws. Fiddly job so be patient. Connect the spade connections and replace all plates front and rear. Should be the job!!! Someone hold the element in the cooker whilst someone connects at the back. Whatever you do, DON'T TAKE A DRILL TO YOUR COOKER!!

Have had 4 Neff oven elements in 2 years, why does this keep happening ? B14241 single oven element keeps blowing, grill and light are fine, any ideas please ? is it time for a new oven ?

If you are not fitting genuine
elements, this is probably the reason they are failing so quickly.
You will pay a lot more for the genuine article, but they will last a lot longer.
Also make sure the fan is working o/k, as this can cause premature element failure.

I need to replace the bottom element in my oven

You need to check the heating element for continuity and the thermistor for continuity. Use an ohmmeter or multimeter to check. The element should not be any reading over 24 ohms for a 220-250V supply and not over 12 ohms for a 110Vac supply. A good tip is to take digital photos of the job before starting on removing and testing wiring etc so that you can refer back to it if you have to replace any items or forget which wires attach to any particular terminal etc.

To test and replace the element:

  1. Turning off the mains power to the oven.
  2. Remove the lower back panel. Fan assisted ovens will have a coiled 2 or 3 turn element around the outside of the fan.
  3. Remove the 2 power connectors to the grill element if one is fitted.
  4. Check the element resistance reading on the main oven heating element and not the grill element.
  5. The thermistor or fusible link is located on top of the oven cavity if fitted and has two wires attached to it - most likely to be red and black or both white wires.
  6. Remove the earthing wire to the main oven heating element screw terminal.
  7. Unscrew the grill element securing screws(s) - there will be 1 or 2 depending on the element fitted to your oven. Do this from inside the oven cavity itself.
  8. Refit the new element (make sure it has the same mounting screw holes as the one you want to remove) then secure it.
  9. Reconnect the earthing wire to the element screw post.
  10. Make sure that neither of the element tags touch the chassis - check with a continuity tester of ohm meter and adjust if required.
  11. Reconnect the power cables to the main oven heating element.
  12. Reconnect the power cables to the grill element if one is fitted.
  13. Reconnect the power and check that the element works correctly.
  14. Disconnect the mains power again and replace the rear panel(s).
  15. Reconnect the mains power and recheck that the oven, and if appropriate the grill, functions correctly.

Fitted new oven element still not working

Most likely the temperature sensor is bad. This is a small pencil shaped rod in the top of the oven.

Well, to ensure the temp sensor isn't bad, you can take an ohm meter to the contacts of it and measure the resistance. It should be around 20 ohms. If it is much greater or infinite, then its bad. To get to the contacts you will need to unplug the oven, pull it away from the wall and remove the rear panel. Then disconnect the wiring and touch the probes from the meter to the contacts on the sensor. You can order a new sensor locally or from repairclinic.com. Let me know what you find.

Replaced oven heating element, now trips electric

Disconnect the new heater and try it again , if it still trips then your problem is elsewhere, if it does not trip, then it points to the new element being faulty.
If it is fan assisted make sure the fan is running o/k.
Hope this helps.
Please leave feedback.
Thanks.

Fan oven replacement

if your new element is missing a terminal it is likely to be the earth terminal so when your new element arrives DO NOT connect the green\yellow wire to anything just wrap it in duct tape. As this is the earth if you connect it to the element you are just making a dead short so will blow element and fuse. The element is touching the oven liner so is earthed by the oven anyway. :)
