SONY KDF-50WE655 Cooling Fan

Hi, I'm trying to find the part number for my SONY KDF-50WE655 cooling fan in the back of my set. It's making a whining noise and I need to replace it. Thank you for your help and time, Rob

Great info, thank you! I know my faulty fan is one of those, but without schematics, I still need to narrow it down a bit. Can you tell me the name of the fan that is readily visible from behind the set, please? I've traced the sound back to this fan.

    Thank you again,

There are three fans: 1)Cooling fan(on the optical block)part# 1-787-057-11 2)Ballast fan part# 1-787-081-11 3)Upper optics fan part# 1-787-460-11 Also make sure you don't have a noisey iris motor in the optical block (verify by adjusting the iris settings in the menu and see if the noise level changes)

SONY KDF-50WE655 Cooling Fan has become too noisy. It's not the little horizontal fan that is easy to see but something else near it that keeps whining after the little fan stops.

You have a total of 4 fans in this unit.
Fan# 1 - Optics unit ( left side )
Fan# 2 - Large fan facing rear of set, behind metal shield
Fan# 3 - Optics unit ( right side )
Fan# 4 - Mounted directly above the chassi assy

KDF60XBR950 doesnt turn is on just flashes green

There is no less than two Cooling Fans on the right side. Either one of them could cause the problem. The one that turns slow or stops turning quickly is the one that is probably causing the problem.
I hope this helps,

Is the t603 and r672 part of the tv or the actual circuit breaker

Three blinks - B over voltage protection (OVP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 3 blink fault. This is also a problem in the power supply circuit, check T603 and R672.

DOES THIS ABOVE issue have anything to do with Cooling FAN?
I cannot hear the cooling fan come on when first turned on like
before THANKS

If my lamp is out, would sound be present?

Check lamp cooling fan for dust blockage. It is located inside the back cover (10 screws) and is in a horizontal position above the lamp from the rear side. This is an air intake fan. The cooling fan you can see on the back panel is the exhaust fan that sucks out the hot air. A clue is hot or melt marks around the lamp housing.

If the lamp cooling fan is blocked you'll get red flashing diagnostics light flashing. It's trying to say clean me so I can keep the new lamp cool. Sony is silent on this in it's manuals. I'm guessing they don't care because is causes lot's of parts business!

I learned all this after replacement lamp burnt out after 1 week. My lamp cooling intake fan was found blocked and wasn't spinning. I saw the exhaust fan working and thought all was ok, not even knowing there were more fans. Some models even have another fan inside the optics blocker. I didn't take mine apart that far.
