THE TUBE IS CARBONIZED -IF YOU HAVE A TECHNICAL KNOWS
PUT 9V CA or CC IN FILAMENT AND A LAMP MAX 15WATTS IN SERIE WITH ANODE AND RED GREEN BLUE CATHODE (ONE AT TIME) -OFF FILAMENT AND YOULL SEE SPARKS INSIDE THE TUBE WHEN DESCABONIZE. REPEAT AT LEAST 3 TIMES

Your tv does not need an internal cleaning for brightness, I suspect that your tube has aged and either needs an adjustment or replacement.

it's unual for all 3 crt's to go bad at same time, so have you tried turning up screen(G2) control? If so also there is a cap in the high voltage line that when replaced may lighten up set. Don't have model so I can't go further.

open up the set and on the board there are 2 small potentiometers mounted on the board called Vert-Linerity and Vert Height, I believe the adjustment of the Linerity control will fix your issue

The red gun in the picture tube itself is shorted on. You will have to replace the picture tube itself to fix the problem. Probably want to just buy a new set. Sorry!

I have a 1994 zenith big screen the picture is showing really dar
It could be that the picture tubes have gone down on emission, there is a prcedure that can be tried to bring up the overall brightness but it is just possible that you will loose some picture quality. If it's a 1994 projo tv i am thinking of the three crt system, a gray scale alignment would probably correct the dark condition in your picture, again depending on how far gone is the emission in your picture tubes, if your projo tv is the dlp system, the bad news is that you could be needing some light engine repair. The color adjustment is possible with the availability of a service manual or in the case of the dlp system, light engine repairs or replacement are available from some on line stores.

Tv is dark
looking on the back of ur tv near the cable input jack there might be an area where u can adjust the brightness on the flyback transformer. if there isn't you will have to remove the back of the tv and adjust it this way. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE BRIGHTNESS KNOB ON THE FLYBACK, CAUSE YOU MAY BE SHOCKED. so please be careful.

Picture is dark
sitnlisten - yes it does appear your pix tube is getting weak,but we may be able to turn up the flyback alittle to brighten up the picture.If you take the back off you will see the flyback-large black unit with a wire going to the round rubber cap on the back of the pix tube.Look at the flyback there are usually 2 adjusters one marked focus the other screen,just turn up the screen a little bit at a time.If you turn this up too much you will wind up with retrace lines on the screen.You may also want to check the pcboard ass'y for a sub bright adjust,and same thing small adjustments.If this don't help your pix tube may be too far gone.I hope this helps. cooltek Feb.1/08

Blueand dark when picture should be yellow and gold bright
Well there are many causes for this. In the back of your tv there are three different color projectors. One red, one green, one blue. One or more of them seems to be out of alignment. They can be adjusted but it is recommended to be done by a professional as there are transformers in the back near that area that create the high voltage current needed to run the color guns.

Hi This could be one of three possibilities, one the High Voltage Screen Adjustment is off, Two the Picture Tube is Weak, or Three there is a problem with the Video Drive Amp/Amps, these are things that should be checked or adjusted by a qualified technician, especially the High Voltage Screen Adjustment, hope this helps.

Picture is VERY dark...
zenith have many problems with crt (picture tube) they comes be short or one or more canon fail, there are nothing to do, replace the picture tube, and thats a lot of money for an old tv...good luck ps adjusting the screen and resoldering the picture tube card could help but remember there are many dangerous circuit in a tv...
