When the machine is kneading it makes a terrible skipping gear noise.  The bread is fine but the noise is terrible.  We were able to take the belt off but dont know where to find replacement.

Toastmastter breadmachine model 1186. I used it two days ago, worked fine. Today the drive belt will not turn. It makes a small clicking noise. Can you oil the shaft or are the bearing gone?

Hi, Take the bread pan out of the machine and see if it still makes the noise when you start a kneading cycle. If it still makes the noise then the belt may be loose or a gear has chipped. If everything is normal then it could be the bread pan. There is a sealed bearing on the bottom of it and when that breaks or freezes then the paddle won't turn and it's time for a new bread pan Be sure to unplug the machine when checking belts. They are located in the base of the machine. Hank

Hi...Take the empty pan out of the machine and spin the paddle by hand. It should turn freely with no sticking and should not be loose. There is a sealed bearing on the bottom of the bread pan and if this fails then the paddle will stick and be really loose if you try to move the paddle up and down. . If this is okay then check the belts and gear. They could be loose or worn out. Belts and motor are located in base of machine. Be sure to unplug before checking this out. Also, make sure bread pan is installed in the machine correctly. Hank

I have a toastmaster Bread Box bread machine...I am making French bread...the banging noise was so loud I stopped it fearing the machine was it ? If not should I continue the kneading/baking...

Unless the sound is mechanical like metal on metal etc. what you may be hearing is the sound of the dough ball being knocked around and kneaded. Sometimes that gets pretty loud. While it is kneading go ahead and open the top and see if you think the dough ball is making the noise. If it seems to be coming from somwhere else then you may have a more serious problem. Is this a new noise or it this the first time you have used the machine?

The bread machine will not knead m I have made sure it is connected right and even started over with a new batch, it makes the nosie like it is trying to work but will not knead.

Hi, A few things may cause this problem. Make sure the bread pan is inserted correctly in the machine. If ok, then take the bread pan out of the machine and see if you can turn the paddle by hand. It should turn nice and smooth, If it sticks or does not move then the sealed bearing that the paddle spins on has failed. If that's okay then keep the pan out of the machine and start a kneading cycle. Look through the lid window and see if the motor shaft is turning smoothly. If no then the belt is loose, broken, or has fallen off the pulley.. Good luck Hank

Loaf of bread...clumpy mess

Yup check those belts. Also make sure the paddle spins freely when you spin it by hand. If the paddle does not spin freely, then the sealed bearing may be going bad. Hank

It could be the belt is slipping or a loose gear. Take a look at the gear & belt assembly in the base of the machine. Also, make sure the sealed bearing in the bottom of the bread pan is not sticking. It should turn free by hand Hank

Panasonic SD-YD205 Bread Maker: Paddle gets stuck then continues.

Take the bread pan out of the machine and run a kneading cycle. If it is noisy with the pan out then you can take the belt off and try a kneading cycle again. If it's quiet, the yep it's the belt. If still noisy its a gear or the motor itself. If everything is quiet with the pan out then it's the pan itself. There is a sealed bearing in the pan that allows the paddle to spin. The seal on the bearing leaks oil and the bearing either freezes or does not let the paddle spin freely. There is no replacement for the sealed bearing ..and a new pan is needed. Good Luck Hank

Kneading Blade chattering

I had the same problems with another manufactures model. I found that the bread pan needs to slot in the machine only one way. The pan will fit in the machine with the handle both vertical and parallel to the front. However to stop the clacking noise I found that one way in the makes noise, the other way it doesn't. You'll have to try. If it makes noise, open the lid and turn the bread pan 45 degrees in either direction and secure it back in the breadmaker then close the lid. I hope this helps. If it does, remember how the pan is in the machine for next time to avoid the noise.
