Dell Laptop Timer

I was not aware that Dell Laptops have an internal timer. How is that accessed and changed?

My daughters computer freezes up after 45 minutes of use. It was suggested that her computer may be on some type of internal timer that is shutting it down. I was not aware of such a timer and was seeking further advice.

She has a Dell Lattitude 600, works fine, freezes up at about the 45 minute time, she pulls the battery and it resets.

    Any advice?

Now, she is doing a scan using AVG free to check for viruses.
She uses Macafee, but is checking using AVG. I will see about checking with Microsoft but fear a hardware problem. I am still seeking further advice from this website.

Perhaps, the problem is with your battery. Try to remove the battery and install it back again.

so it solve your problem by removing and installing back the battery.. because the battery has internal timer that makes your internal memory ticks.

Does th lamp have to be on when programming the timer?

Lamp must be on AFTER timer is programmed and when you plug lamp into timer.
The timer does not 'reach up and turn on the lamp switch' or change between high-medium-low settings on 3-way bulb.
The timer just turns power on... so lamp must be turned on for timer to operate.
Keep in mind that after a programmable-timer's internal battery is charged for 1 hour, you can unplug timer and hold in hand to set ptograms... THEN plug lamp into timer and plug timer back into outlet

Can i install wireless card ddapter on dell inspiron b1300? Do I need drivers or softare?

From what I can see that laptop should already come with a dell 1470 A/B/G card internal. It is a mini-PCI card.
This card should work, but be aware it is not an "easy swap" where you would just slide one out and the broadcom in. On most laptops you would have to dissasemble a lot of the components in order to get into the area where the wifi card is held. I have done it on several laptops, but it is not at all an easy task for someone that is not used to building computers.
If it is of any help to you, I found this review that has a lot of info about the specs and such on your laptop.

Is this timer battery operated, does it need to get the battery changed or recharged. thanks

You posted under Westinghouse 3-outlet timer:

If this is not your timer, then add a comment.
The Westinghouse has internal rechargeable battery.
Plug timer in for 1 hour to charge battery.
This is not a replaceable battery.

Other brands of same timer might be different.
I have the Utilitec version of this timer and it has internal battery also.

Batteries for most plug-in timers are internal rechargeable batteries.
They are not replaceable and cannot be accessed.

To charge the battery: plug timer into receptacle for an hour.
Afterward, unplug timer to set timer program
Next, plug lamp into timer, and then plug timer into wall.
Be sure that lamp is turned ON.

If battery does not charge, then display doesn't show. That means timer is busted.
About 6-8 of new timers are defective from the start.
If battery won't charge, then return timer for another one.
Most of these timers work for a season or two, and then you buy another.

Malibu 600 watt transformer timer not working. Can turn on and off w/ the switch but the timer isn't functioning.

The timer motor is probably bad. Unfortunately, Malibu transformers have very few user servicable parts :-( , and the timer motor isn't one of them. One cannot even access the internal connections. If you recently purchased the transformer, return it to the store. If the transformer is less than 5 years old, it's still under warranty. In that case visit the Malibu website for instuctions.
