Projector shuts off after a few minutes, has an odor

One bulb or 3 bulbs. If 3, swap two. if one try to troubleshoot the board. Look for burns or distorted caps.

The temperature in the classroom is to hot. Turn down the
temperature in the classroom or get a small fan and place it near the
projector. The projector is running at border line and just needs a few
degrees of cooling...

i suspect the device has cooling issues. the shut down is done to prevent physical damage to the machine's delicate electronics. make sure that none of the airvents are covered and try to remove dust using a can of compressed air. if this does not help, you chould contact a local repair centre for maintenance.

The most common reasons are the temperature is too high or the ventilation holes are blocked.

Unplug the AC power cord, wait 5 or 10 minutes then turn back on.

There could be dust or the air filter needs to be changed.

Take the lamp cover off the bottom. It's possible that the screws holding the lamp are loose.

lamp is on it's way out. proxima no longer carries the lamp, but try to find it online. part # sp-lamp-027

are any of the leds flashing? could be overheating. blow out the dust with canned air. if the lamp is old, it could be that it needs to be replaced. if the fans go out immediately as well, it could be the power supply.

i have the same problem, a clear image, the the projector shuts down, turn the fan on, and "lamp" blinks.

i returned my projector to viewsonic service center, they told me to change the lamp.

the problem is that a lamp is very expensive!
