Question about Canon PIXMA iP1600 Printer
Both the power lamp and the alarm lamp flash alternately. The books says to disconnect the pwer and the printer cable for a while. I've done that but when I plug everything back in, the unit turns on but when the ink cartridges move to the right, they make a grinding sound and stay on the right hand side of the unit.
There is something blocking the carriage from seating home. 5100 generally means there is either something in the paper path or an obstruction in the ink carriage path. Open the clamshell to look at the carriage path and make sure the cable connecting the carriage is not restricted.

Tips for a great answer:
An Error Code
Is Displayed on the LED
Flashes Green and Alarm Lamp Flashes Orange Alternately
(go down the page until it says: Power Lamp Flashes Green and Alarm Lamp Flashes Orange Alternately )> then look for the error code. good luck!!sorry, the system is printing the same font as the book.
