open the cartridge bay on the rightmost side under the scanner cover. you can miss the door. after opening, wait for the cartridge carrier to be in place and remove the cartridge that you wan to remove by pressing the cartridge down from the top of it. then pull it out. open your new ink cartridge, remove the protective film on the head and insert your cartridge to where it should be and lightly-frimly push it up to set in the carriage.
It's really pretty simple once you know how. Open the front end. The
cartridges go all the way to the right. Press down on the cartridge
itself, and it will release from the carriage. Reverse procedure with
new cartridge.
You say you replaced the cartridge with the original. Was that a new one or the old one? If it was the old one it may be empty, Also what error message are you getting. If the cartridgs is new make sure it is the correct one and that it is snapped in the whole way.
I had the same problem. It was solved once I bought an original color cartridge. Refilled cartridge seems not to work on this printer. Glad if it might help.
I don't know how to change the ink on my HP Deskjet F4280. I can't see how to get the cartridge out
