How to install windows xp sp2 by using dr-dos

1. Check your BIOS to be sure your computer will boot from a CD. Enter the BIOS setup by pressing the "Delete" or F2 or "F12" key, or as directed at the startup screen, immediately after booting. Set the first boot device to "CDROM" or "DVDROM" instead of "hard drive" if it isn't already.

2. MS-DOS command prompt

Insert the Windows XP installation CD into your CD or DVD drive and restart the computer. When prompted, choose to start from the MS-DOS command prompt with CD support. The MS-DOS command prompt will appear in a moment.

3. Start SMARTDRIVE by typing "SMARTDRV" at the DOS prompt and pressing enter. You don't have to run SMARTDRIVE, but copying the files will be much quicker if you do. The computer will display the DOS prompt again.

4. Enter "CD I386" at the DOS prompt to change to the directory where the setup program starts.

5. Enter "WINNT" at the prompt to start Windows XP setup. The installation program will copy files to your computer and then display a message requesting to reboot.

6. Press the "Enter" key to reboot. The setup program will start again and check that your hard drive format is compatible with Windows XP. If not, it will guide you through partitioning and formatting the drive and then ask you to reboot once more.

7. Press "Enter" to reboot. The computer will restart in Windows XP mode and automatically start the Windows Setup Wizard to detect your hardware and finish the installation.

Insert XP CD into drive, reboot pc pressing F1 button.. This takes you into BIOS, change your primary boot device to CDrom, save changes and reboot. Select boot from CD once this appears and wait for files to be installed. Select the part of the hard drive you wish to use for your operating system (usually the largest) and select partition this drive. Delete any previous os, and reformat hard drive. (Be aware this removes everything saved on your hard drive, so always back up first) Re boot afterwards and reinstall operating system.
Hope this helps

Ntldr is missing, press any buttom to start

Hello, NTLDR is the main file of windows XP to boot it properly. You can recover this file without installing the full windows XP. Follow the given steps to recover the NTLDR file from windows XP CD.
First insert the Windows XP bootable CD into your CD-drive and reboot your computer. When your computer prompted a message to press any key to boot from the CD, press the any key.
Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows and now log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key then pressing enter.
Here you will be prompted for your administrator password, enter your that password then copy the below two files to the root directory of the primary hard disk. In the below example you are copying these files from the CD-ROM drive letter "E" to drive c. This letter may be different on your computer.
google_protectAndRun("ads_core.google_render_ad", google_handleError, google_render_ad);

copy e:\i386\ntldr c:\
copy e:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\

Once copy both files, remove the CD and reboot your system.

Thankyou

Reboot

To Reboot a computer is to turn it off, wait at least 20 seconds, then turn it back on.

A.If you're thinking of Reboot, as to reinstall the Operating System, you use a Restoration Disk, (sometimes listed as Recovery Disk), insert it in your CD/DVD drive, and restart your computer.
(Just press the CTRL, ALT and Delete keys AT THE SAME TIME.
Not shouting. Windows XP and Windows Vista are examples of an Operating System)

B.If you're trying to install an Operating System, from a CD disk that you bought, I suggest you go into BIOS Setup, and in Boot Order, change the first boot device to CDROM. Insert the CD disk in your CD/DVD drive, and restart the computer.

If you buy a Full Installation CD disk, as listed above, you have to change the Boot Order.
For example:
1.You have Windows XP on your computer now. It has problems, and doesn't work correctly. Instead of getting the Restoration Disk from your computer manufacturer, you decided to just buy a genuine copy of Windows XP, and install it. (This is a Full Installation Disk)

The Windows XP you have installed now, will not let the one you bought install over it, by just putting the disk in the drive. Change the first boot device, in Boot Order to CDROM, and it will. The Windows XP you have now, will 'see' the Windows XP you're trying to install, as just the same version. You have to install a better version of Windows, in order for it to write over what is installed.
Such as Windows Vista.

2.You have Windows Vista on your computer, and are not happy with it. You would like to put Windows XP on instead. Windows XP is considered a lesser version, and Vista won't let it write over it.
Go to BIOS Setup, change the first boot device in Boot Order, to CDROM, and it will.
