Question about Bosch WFK 2401

1 Answer

Washer doesn't complete cycles

I have a Bosch Nexxt Essence front loading washer that is not even 2 yrs old. Recently, the wash cycles periodically stop mid way & I have to restart all over again or the washer doesn't spin (sounds like it is, but the drum is not moving) or I start the cycle, it starts filling then immediately drains. All in all, this washer is very confused. There are no codes that appear at any time. I have checked the manual & it's useless. I do about 3 small loads per week, so it surely doesn't get over used. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks - I will definitely try unplugging it - far cheaper than the $60 for a service person to just walk in the door. The machine is not even 2yrs old & cost way more than I ever spent on a washer, so it had better be worth fixing (only reason I got one was because of having well water and septic). I was told it only has a 12 month warrenty. I know what you mean about service - there is 1 authorized person in my area & since I didn't buy it there, I'm sure I got put at the bottom of the list. I was told "someone will call you", but couldn't say exactly when.

Thanks! And yes, it does finish cycles without any problem sometimes and then other times, it acts up.

Re cleaning the drain filter - after having the unit for 2 mos I encountered this problem. However, the manual does not tell you how to clean the drain, only that if a certain code flashes, it needs to be done. I had to have a service guy come out - charged me $75 to use my electricity to suck out water from the filter & my towels to wipe up the mess he made. I of course, wrote down step by step instructions on how to do this myself in the future. I thought the guy might be nice and give me a break on the call, since I told him that no where in the manual does it tell you "how" to clean the drain. "Not my problem" was his attitude.

Sounds like an electronics problem. Get a Bosch repair person to look at it. Hopefully, they can reset the computer inside. Otherwise, it's a part that costs more than $200, as I recall, plus too much to do the work. Bosch's 1-800 person once advised me to unplug my washer - a model 2401 - for a half-hour as a way to reset the electronics. You might try that. Pray to the appliance gods. Maybe your machine is still under warranty. Trouble is, you'll probably have to wait for days until an authorized, over-priced repair person comes to visit. Bosch is way behind in service levels here in the U.S. They know it, but it's not worth their time or money to fix, it seems. A long story ....

If you are handy with a screwdriver, you might want to remove the back panel of the machine. Then, you'll be able to view its operation during the wash cycle. You might see something useful. It is only a matter of a few screws, and you can replace the panel no problem. I would unplug the machine first, of course - and stand clear while watching it do its thing. It's a surprisingly simple mechanism.
If you happen to find a lot of fine black dust inside the machine, on the bottom panel, for instance, this would indicate that the main spin motor needs new brushes. In which case you can do the work yourself, if you are somewhat handy, or have a repair person do it. (The repair people may urge you to put in a new motor for much more money.) It sounds like your machine does finish its cycle sometimes - yes? - in which case it is not a motor problem.
There is a drain filter you might want to clean out, just in case - a panel at bottom of the machine's front? (See manual.) Bosch's own 1-800 reps may have some good advice, too.

    Good luck!

Washer not draining

Probably the pump filter needs cleaning.
It should be located at the bottom front of washer behind drop down cover, turn anti-clockwise to remove and clean.

Need clear plastic cover for front of door

I have one. My new Bosch washer came 2 months ago and I removed it immediately.
The problem is that it arrived scratched up somewhat, which is another reason I removed it as this will only get worse with a plastic cover.
The cover also makes it harder to see into the machine while it's in operation.
To be honest, I'm not sure why you would want it on there, but if you really need one then mine is available.

My Bosch Nexxt Essence front load washer is making a knocking and squeaking noise during the whole spin cycle. It sounds like it's coming from the drum mounts - what should we do?

My Bosch Nexxt Essence front load washer will not drain. I changed the lint filter, and insured that the drainage hose was free of debris. I removed all the wet clothes, wrung out the excess water, and redistributed the clothes. Still, no draining or spinning. Initially there was a humming sound, but now there is no sound at all when I try to restart the drain or spin cycles. All the lights are appropriately "on".

Beeping on spin cycle

It is most likely out of balance, could be for many reasons.
1 could be too many heavy items such as jeans, towels, etc in one load.
2 could be the machine or floor is unlevel.
3 Could be a balance sensor needs replacing.
