You may have a problem with your WINDOWS GENUINE AUTHENTICATION CERTIFICATE. That would tell Microsoft you have a copy of the OS installed instead installed from an original Microsoft Installation CD. No updates, IE doesn't function correctly, and other unfavorable results. You can try to go to Microsoft web page and check the availability of a WINDOWS GENUINE AUTHENTICATION TOOL DOWNLOAD.
First I would like you to visit: http://support.microsoft.com/ph/9860 . This site is the Windows Genuine Advantage Solution Center and may provide you with recommendations for resolving your situation. Next visit the follow site and validate your computer @ http://www.genuine.com/genuine . Next click on "Validate Windows" in the upper right hand corner. Please follow the guidance and restart your computer. Try and update your computer again.

Partical incompatability-messed up whole computer-freezes,internet messed up-wont let me delete program out-message keeps appearing!!!

I, myself have had nothing but problems when I downloaded Internet Explorer 9! I got rid of it. The best way to get rid of IE 9 once you have downloaded it is to go to Windows Update, click " view update history", click "Installed Updates" and once they all appear, find Windows Internet Explorer 9 ( Under Microsoft Windows, which is below Microsoft Visual C & Microsoft Silver-light 1, among others ) and uninstall it! It is quite very simple and IS the only way to get back to IE 8 ( If that is what you had previously, otherwise it will default to IE 7. BTW, very easy to re-install IE 8! ). For some reason, once you start using Google Chrome browser, it is best to simply avoid Internet Explorer! I use Google Chrome & love it! I also use Mozilla Firefox! Sometimes we must use Windows IE since it is the browser which came with the computer. But I would avoid IE 9 and just not download it again once you are rid of it! No matter how much Windows/Microsoft tells you that you need to download it! Hope you have your computer running efficiently again! arjay8tch (Richard Holt)

If you are sure your charger is good check the Compaq site for updates for your computer. Vista had lots of problems, I would suggest updating to at least win 7 pro if it's an option.

Hi,

Please download and install this HP update utility.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-56632-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&os=2100&product=1147426&sw_lang=

Then go to device manager and find the audio driver which has yellow exclamation mark in front it ie. Conexant AC-Link Audio Driver. Right click on it and uninstall.

After this open the HP update utility and scan for the updates. It will install the audio driver.

I hope this will work. If not please get back I have another option if it is not working. But coz of this limit of the message I can not post it.

How to upgrade my FF browser to the new released version.. ive already downloaded the update but i dont know how to do this. thanks

make sure that you have all FF windows closed, and run the .exe file that you downloaded. That should install the update. Also, if you are using Vista or 7, you may have the UAR popup a window asking for permission to run the program.

Since the upgrade on Windows Live messanger, my picture and sound quality are terrible and I can't keep the connection. My system is Vista. Any advice?

Try going on windows updates and checking if there's some updates available. It sounds to me that the MSN is a much newer model data than your sound control and graphical control. Just try and get some new Vista graphical and sound updates.
Hope I helped Dr Reed

Windows automatically installed 19 updates, when i switched computer back on, it is just a blank screen with cursor flashing in the top left-hand corner. Any ideas, Please?

One of your updates might have gone bad. Perform a system restore to get back. Later try downloading the updates individually to spot the bad one. Please do comment if you need more info.

Display problems with nuvi 260

You may have to send in for service. A bad screen normally is not a good sign. Sorry.
If you are sure that the updates have been downloaded your only other option is:
Trying a full master reset:
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} To perform a Master Reset on the nuvi 260 series device: Note: A master reset will erase all waypoints or favorites and will restore your unit to the default factory settings.
  1. Start with the unit OFF and unplugged from power
  2. Touch and hold the lower right corner of the screen with an index finger or the eraser end of a pencil
  3. Continue touching and holding the lower right hand corner of the screen then power the unit ON
  4. Release the power button when the device powers ON
    • You will see a new message: Do you really want to erase all user data?
  5. Remove your finger from the touchscreen when this message displays
  6. Touch Yes
The device will automatically reset. Follow the on screen prompts then place your device in an area with a clear view of the sky until it acquires satellites.
