Yes. you can just connect the red wire to the red wire, white to white, green to green, black to black... you probably only have 2 wires in the cable. strip the insulation back, then take the wires and see if you have enough slack to connect them back by more than 2 in.. if not, add a 8" section of wire and splice it back in with wire nuts or other securement and cover it all in electrical tape very well... it will corrode much quicker now its been exposed to the elements... but use its life up before you get rid of it i say.

I accidently cut the electrical cord while using the black and Decker hedge trimmer TR116, now its not starting.

Did it cut it all the way through.? Have you repaired it? Has it been repaired adequately? Check it hasn't blown the fuse in the plug when it was cut, protecting the circuit.

I have an 8104 type 7 black and decker hedge trimmer. It freezes up durning the cutting or just squeezing the trigger. Makes a loud buzzing noise. Almost like it is jammed and there is nothing jammed in...

Did you ever oil the cutters since you have owned it? Try this spray some PB Blaster on the cutters let it soak and then try running it. If you can't find that stuff just try some motor oil, pour it on let it soak and give it a whirl. Good Luck...

Your best bet would be to use http://www.eReplacementParts.com as a source to get your Black and Decker parts and than use their tool repair forum and submit this question. They have licensed mechanics that repair these things all the time, so I'm sure they could put together an easy fix.

Black and decker hedge trimmer GT 249 I have cut through the cable and wondered where i could get it repaired. I live near Selby / Leeds

cut the bad part out, then strip the outer insulation off carefully as not to knick the inner insulation, then strip off all wire ends appx 3/4" to 1" and twist the black wire to the other black wire and tape securely so no bare wires are showing, then do the same with the white/white wires and then green/green ground wires and finally tape the whole thing to keep out moisture with electrical tape from most hardware/d.i.y. stores

How to Sharpen a Black and Decker Hedge Hog sharpen-black-decker-hedge-hog-800x800.jpg Maintaining the sharpness of electric timmers can made landscape trimming easier with beautiful results. Electric hedge trimmers make trimming hedges and bushes easier and quicker than using manual hand-powered trimmers. Electric trimmers, the most popular type in the U.S., cost less and require less maintenance than gasoline-powered models. Electric trimmers are used most often by homeowners with the Black and Decker Hedge Hog series being very popular. While they are not premium products, electric trimmers like the Black and Decker Hedge Hog trimmer can keep trimming reliably for years with proper maintenance, including sharpening the blade's teeth.
Difficulty: Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need
  • Work table
  • Two medium size clamps
  • Dremel tool or similar hand-held multi-purpose tool
  • Grinding wheel attachment for hand-held tool.
  • Dremel 971 (or similar) aluminum oxide grinding sharpening stone with a tip small enough to cover the flat facet of a Hedge Hog blade tooth
    • 1 Unplug the electric trimmer before trying to sharpen the teeth.
    • 2 Clamp the electric trimmer to the work table using two clamps if necessary so the Hedge Hog is firmly held down with the blade teeth accessible over the edge of the work table.
    • 3 Insert and secure grinding tip in hand-held multi-purpose tool.
    • 4 Maneuver the grinding tip so it is perpendicular to the facet of the Hedge Hog tooth.
    • 5 Sharpen teeth in one direction, being careful to try and maintain the same cutting edge angle on the sharpened tooth of no less than 35 degrees.
    • 6 Make same number of grinding passes/grind the same length of time a few seconds on each tooth.
Tips & Warnings
  • This task should take about 15 minutes.
  • Keep a light touch; too much force can break the grinding surface.
  • For best results, insert the sharpening bit slightly less than all the way into the tool.
