My partner left the grill on on my cooker and now the grill won't stay on and there is no gas going through the bottom oven..any ideas what the problem might be?
Could be any number of possibilities, The user manual for your particular cooker (try Google the model number if you haven't got it) will have instructions on how to reset the cooker if it is a user feature.
It is very possible that a safety device has operated, possibly an overheat fail-safe. Such devices are internal, some are re-settable, others self destruct and therefore must be replaced, They can be separate components or may be an integrated feature of another component. They are sometimes a 'last resort' safety cut-out that operates when the design limitations of the appliance have been exceeded. They are often devices fitted to protect against injury or fire and may not necessarily protect against damage to the appliance itself. So even if the fault is due to the operation of a safety cut-out there is still a chance that any damage to your oven is repairable. The appliance should be professionally examined and tested before replacing the cut-out and recommissioning the cooker.
