Question about Creative Labs Zen Vision Digital Media Player

1 Answer

My USB port, no longer recognizes the Creative M, yet it charges it the same way?

I have my Vision M 30 GB for 2yrs.It froze, I reset it through the Reset hole, when the file reopened after rebuilding all my Music Play list was lost, the music download are still in there, so the only way I can play certain songs, is by opening DJ and then Most Popular and let that play. The main PROBLEM to this is that my Creative player on my laptop NO LONGER RECONISES MY VISION M, it just says that a USB PORT does recognize the vision M, yet it still does charge the Vision M the same way through the USB PORT. Please help Alain

If you can't connect through USB anymore (also no reaction on you computer and no sign of connecting on the screen of the player),
you are going to need a new logic board. I know only one place that repairs creative zen players and sells the parts besides ebay obviously. If you just want to get the music out you can stick the hard drive on an iPod video logic board (they are compatible) and use a utilty like sharepod to extract the music.

Really i don't know what the problem is. the creative doesn't charge and when it charges don't do anything

the player seems to need longer charging:
1. while player switched OFF: let it load on ac-adapter or USB-connection**** for about 1 hour, until the screen lights up.
2. still while player switched OFF: let it load another 2 to 3 hours
to get it fully charged.

**** notice: when using USB for charging:
1. Install the application software (from CD or Creative-download)
2. Preferred is a USB-connection at the backside of the computer
3. When more USB-connections are used, have the others disconnected: trying not to overload the USB-port power-consumption.

If your Zen V is dead, wont respond to anything, try this, plug it in to the computer, hold the power switch in the on position, THEN trigger the reset button, worked like a charm for mine, I had thought it a lost cause."
