Question about Canon Digital SD900 / IXUS 900 Ti Digital Camera

1 Answer

Canon sd900 will only take pictures that don't require a flash

The screen shows display but black behind it, instead of being able to see what you are taking a picture of. It also will only work with settings that don't require a flash such as outdoor and iso. It will take the picture, and then show you the picture but you don't see what you are taking a picture of until after it captures the pic. any ideas?

Press the "DISP" button. Button on the top right of the bigger circle control button.

You can turn off the display if you want to conserve battery and use the viewfinder. So you probably accidentally turned it off. You can use that button to turn on/off the LCD display or change between two brightness settings on the LCD.

Hope that fixes your problem.

Canon PowerShot, SD900, Using AutoFlash, pictures takes 8 seconds

It takes quite abit of power to charge the flash module. The older your batteries are, or the more drained they are = more time it's going take to charge the flash module.
It requires fresh batteries. If your batteries are not fresh, the camera will still work up to a point (that's why you can still take pictures), but it will take longer to charge the flash module.

You will be able to check this, if you have the A/C adapter. You will find that by using the adapter from a wall outlet, you'll have no problem with the flash time.

This will fix your problem, and you'll get better performance from your camera. Thanks for coming to FixYa, and don't forget to rate my solution.

Hey D1ppy,
There are two ways to get rid of shadows behind a subject, but both require you to use a hotshoe mounted flash. The first way is to bounce the light off a ceiling or some other white surface by turning the flash head towards that surface instead of your subject. The second way would be to connect the flash to the camera using a off camera flash cord and hold the flash above your head when your taking the picture, and by doing this you are able to aim where the shadows show up in the image. Bounced flash is what is called soft light and generally is more pleasing light. I of course am assuming the shadows are caused by the built in flash on the camera. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

Try a higher ISO speed (suggest 400). Look in your camera's instruction book to find out how to do this.

Canon A75 displays images in pink

The problem could be either the display screen has partially failed (red green or blue color is not displaying) OR the screen's connection to the control board needs to be cleaned. Either repair requires disassembly. The charge at my shop would be $49 labor plus parts if required.
