Error message saying ext memory is not recognized but there is no card installed

I recently upgraded the firmware and a movie I played before won't play now. Only BD DATA is visible, it states that the EXT MEM isn't recognized. I don't have EXT MEM. Tried to disable BD Live, still nothing. I don't want to have to go out and buy a flash just so my blu ray player will work. It has to be a special flash anyway.

Me too. Blu Ray disc froze up mid film and now says EXT MEM is not recognized. I can play DVD's but not Blu Ray. Sony S350 is about 7 months old and this is the first problem but it is a big one.

HA! I finally figured out after giving up on it the night before. Simply insert a flash drive into the ext memory slot and woolah, it works! So simple.

didn't work for me. all it did was tell it needed to erase the 'shared cache' and then obviously the flash drive was blank so it couldn't play anything. I think mine has really died. yay! gotta love Sony.

The camera is not recognizing the memory card. It keeps giving an error message "Reinstert the Memory Card you were using"

Test the card in a computer, if you can open the files in it, there's something wrong with your camera. If the computer doesn't recognize the card, get a new card.

I have Panasonic Lumix FX9 and I have an original 16mb memory sd card that is working but when I put another card the camera says "memory card error please check tha card" and I don`t know what...

Welcome to FixYa.

One possible reason why do you get a "memory card" error is because the memory card is not yet formatted for camera use. Try to format the memory card using the camera itself. Do not use another camera or PC's when formatting the memory card,it may cause another error because it will not recognized by the camera.

Try also to clean the memory slot by using a soft and dry cloth. Then turn on the camera again.
If the message still persist, you neen to contact Panasonic service center.

Please let me know if you have any questions or if this solution was helpful.

Thank you for using FixYa.

My samsung s630 says the memory is full. I cleared photos from the sd card and internal memory, but still can only take four pictures in the lowest quality and size setting.

Memory card might gone bad but can do this following troubleshooting step. Formatting a memory ** This is used for formatting the memory. If you run [Format] on the memory, all images, including the protected images, will be deleted. Be sure to download important images to your PC before formatting the memory. Sub menus
[No] : The memory will not be formatted. Press the menu button three times and the menu display will disappear.
[Yes] : A [Processing!] message appears and the memory will be formatted. If you run FORMAT in Play mode, a [No Image!] message will appear. 1d36119.png
Be sure to run [Format] on the following types of memory card.
- A new memory card, or an unformatted memory card
- A memory card that has a file this camera can't recognize or one that has been taken from another camera.
- Always format the memory card using this camera. If you insert a memory card that has been formatted using other cameras, memory card readers, or PCs, you will get a [Card Error!] message. ** There might be bad sectors on your memory card.

COMPUTER DOESN'T RECOGNIZE ADDED MEMORY

Are the memory cards the same? Try swapping the memory cards inside the computer. It is also important to go into the Setup (F2) once the new memory has been added. The setup keeps track of the hardware changes to your computer, and the additional memory needs to be saved in the Setup configuration. Please let me know what happens and thank you. Binary Bob

Card Error message

Your card may have become corrupted, there are good free utilities out there to save such files from corrupted memory cards, try DIR (Digital Image Recovery) that you can use with a computer card reader if the computer does not recognize your connected camera as an external hard drive.

If you were able to recover your files, format the card in the camera, that should solve your problem using the card.

If the card cannot be recognized by the computer or formatting the card doesn't help, you may have a defective memory card, try another one.

If the card works otherwise but is still not recognized by the camera you may have a defective memory card connector or other camera motherboard problem, sorry.

Hope this helped...

When i turn on my camera it says "Format Card error! Format Card?"

Hi, The only reason your camera displays the message "Format Card" is because it no longer recognizes the contents of the memory card.. A couple of things you can try: 1. Reformat of the memory card itself which can be done by the PC through the card reader/USB connection or the Format command in your camera (Menu/Set-up); 2. It maybe that the card is already faulty and therefore would require replacement. Good luck and kind regards.
