How do i get setup is starting services off and open windows

I found a solution for the same problem that fixed it for a few people. Try this:

1) On the same error screen press SHIFT+F10 and it will open up a black Window. (a command prompt window) 2) In the black windows type the word "regedit"(without the inverted commas and hit enter. That will open the registry editor. In the Registry Editor.. Browse to.... HKLocal machine/SYSTEM/SETUP/STATUS/ChildCompletion, and after highliting childcompletion,on the right hand side check for setup.exe. if the value is 1 change it to 3.(by double clicking on setup.exe and changing the value shown in the box). Then close the registry editor and then also close the black window. Then click on OK for the error and the computer will restart and the installation may complete. just try it and let me know if it worked.

I found this solution at http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/69394-35-acer-aspire-wont-setup-starting-services-help

Let me know if this helps,
Thanks!

Error -3212 on itunes wont let me connect to the itunes store

iTunes.exe has been set to run in compatibility mode for an older version of Windows. For best result, turn off compatibility mode of iTunes before you open it.

> 1. Make sure iTunes isn't running.
2. Click Start, type regedit, then press Enter.
3. Navigate to this Registry location:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
4; Its better you clean/repair Windows registry with RegInOut.
4. Look in the main pane for a key that refers to iTunes. If you find one, delete it, then exit the Registry.
5. Start iTunes. The offending message should be gone!

There are many causes for us to run across a seemingly infinite quantity of Software incompatibilities, performance problems, error messages, and other troubles. Many users find that Pc errors can occur due to incorrect paths or file locations and a damaged windows registry. Keeping your windows registry undamaged and 'uncontaminated' purges your computer of ongoing errors and stops others before they start.
In plain english, in order to repair a runtime error 215 you should above all check out the health of your registry and do necessary repairs. Messing with a damaged registry is a job for a professional, but many budgets don't allow for this. Fortunately, it's easy to get your hands on unique utilities that can easily take on the advanced work on your registry, saving you time and money. These registry repair programs were created by software experts to carefully and completely analyze and fix a damaged windows registry without wasting your valuable time.
Whenever you try to repair a runtime error 215 It is strongly recommended to take advantage of a professional repair tool. You will discover that checking out and fixing your registry is a painless procedure and quite similar to anti-spyware programs. Before you start, you should establish that the utility you end up using will permit regular scans and updates; a standard and necessary feature. Good registry cleaners are a snap to install and run - it requires no more than a few clicks to get the job done. The best part about registry fixers is that they allow you to take care of windows errors on your own - who needs computer repair bills? Now that you realize what's going wrong to cause these problems and what's required for repairs, now all you need to do is download a tool and get started - you won't need more than that.

hope this helps

hello,

  1. turn off the system,
  2. remove the battery and insert it back,
  3. turn it on and insert a new windows CD (it automatically loads the disc, but if it does not, follow the processes below)
  4. upon turning it on,once it gets to the registry error part, press control (ctrl)+alt+delete 2 time

  6. on the task manager blog, select new task,
  7. browse for the d: or d drive and start re running a new windows operating.

Error 1311: source file not found:E\LENOVO3000 Y410 USER GUIDE\VISTA\6.LAN\FILES6~1.cab , Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

The cause of the error is a problem with the Microsoft® Windows® Installer program used by the software. It produces the error when the registry entry AllocateCDRoms at the following subkey is set to a value of 1.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Warning!
Problems caused by improperly editing the Windows registry could render your computer operating system unusable. Microsoft has provided a wealth of critical information you need to know about the registry in the Microsoft Knowledge Base at http://support.microsoft.com/support.

Use the Microsoft® Registry Editor only at your own risk and only after backing up the registry as well as the system.dat and user.dat files as outlined in ARTICLE-ID: Q132332 "How to Back Up the Registry" in the Microsoft Knowledge Base. Additional information about the registry is also contained in the Help topics in the Microsoft Registry Editor.

Start the Registry Editor and locate the following subkey:

goto start->run and type regedit to start registry editor

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Change the value for the AllocateCDRoms entry to 0.
Exit the Registry Editor.

Those registry mechanics are notorious for screwing up your registry. Unless you have a backup of your registry that you can load, you'll have to reinstall windows.
