    Hi,

I am sure about the version of VPN that I am using.

I checked the event viewer and it say

" The description for event Id (0) in source (Cisco VPN Install Service) cannot be found. The local computer maynot have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You maybe able to use the /AUXSOURCE=flag to retrieve this description; see help and support for details. The following information is the part of this event: CiscoVPNInstallService error: 1063, StartServiceCtrlDispatcher failed."

I had the same problem with a laptop running Windows XP Service Pack 3. Another laptop, with XP SP2, connected to the same access point and 'vPN correctly.

Installing Cisco VPN Client 5.0.06.0160 solved the problem on the laptop with XP SP3.

    Hi again

Which version of Cisco VPN client are you using?
Can you check the system errors from the Event Viewer?

    Hello again

Do you have Sygate or Zonealarm installed?
And what is the version of Cisco VPN client?

    Hello

Cisco Systems VPN Client Version 4.6.01.0019 is quite old, but it should work with Win XP SP3.
Can you please check if "Cisco Systems, Inc. VPN Service" is configured correctly:

    Start - Run - services.msc.

There right-click "Cisco Systems, Inc. VPN Service" and select Properties.
On General tab, Startup type: Automatic
On Log On tab, Log on as: Local System account, Allow service to interact with desktop.

    Best regards,
    Zizzler

I had to reload my Cisco VPN client software after a system upgrade. I can no longer connect using VPN on my KR1 router. Any suggestions?

What else changed during your system upgrade? May be OS or AV software blocking the connection. Try stopped all AV and firewall services.

Cannot connect to Remote Desktop at Work From Home

there is a ver 5.06 of the client out by now, it is even win7 compatible, perhaps try upgrading to that version.

yes, there have been issues reported with early 5.0x and he was correct to test an older stable version.
The VPN tunnels work the same way with either version, therefore I would rule out your modem to be an issue.

Cisco VPN Client for 32 bit vista

Download the latest version of the Cisco VPN Client. My version is 5.0.03.0530.

You can also try using the Microsoft "MSIZap" utility to ensure a clean uninstall. It is a command-line utility. You will need the original MSI install file from the Cisco VPN client to use MSIZap.

You can download it here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa370523.aspx
