Battery is OK.  Pictures on SD card can be seen on computer screen with card reader, but camera screen looks like abstract art with purple, black, and white whether camera is set for viewing or taking pictures. In fact, it will still take pictures

Go to support on Canon's website. There is information about a problem with LCD screens on many of their cameras. I had the same problem and am in the process of returning the camera to Canon. They have offered to repair it at their expense. Good luck!

Remote will not operate volume or on/off switch

Hi
Check your remote control for its infrared emission. You can check it with the help of a cellphone with camera option. Put the phone to camera mode, and place the remote at about one feet away from it lens, and press each button on your remote control. If there is any infrared emission from the remote control, the cellphone camera will sense it, and you can see its image at its screen. Before doing this test, put new batterys to your remote control. If ther is no infrated image seen on phone camera screen, check the battery contacts of the remote contro for any rust or dust. If they are also OK, and still there is no image on the camera screen, the remote control is damaged. OK.

I mailed my sister a Vivitar 7022 and she cannot open the manual files from the included disk. Also, when she unpackaged the camera it had a cracked screen. How can she obtain the manual, and is the camera...

The manual can be downloaded from the manufacturer's web site at
http://www.vivitar.com/files_products/400/ViviCam_7022_Camera_Manual.pdf

If the crack is only on the glass then the camera and the screen will work, albeit the crack may hinder viewing. If the crack involves the electronics as well then part or all of the screen will be inoperative, making it difficult or impossible to use the menus, compose new pictures, and review old pictures, however the camera will still record images to the memory card for subsequent transfer to a computer. If the crack is symptomatic of deeper internal damage then the camera may not work.

Hi, my son dropped my LZ2 camera and now it starts when I power it on, all menus and functions seems to be ok, but no image is displayed in the LCD. Any ideas what's going on?

The LDC screen most likely broke the screen did not crack by the actual underlying LCD screen broke the only option is to replace the screen or have it replaced at a local camera shop

Broken screen

First if you have a broke LCD " Cracked" than ok its bad.
but if the back-light is not working and you cannot see a image easily it most likely is something else.
  1. remove the case screws
  2. remove both sides of the case
  3. on the lens side their is a shinny black piece of tape VERY carefully remove it
  4. release the ribbon cables
  5. take off the battery door
  6. de-solider the red and black wires closes to the battery door REMEMBER how they go
  7. turn the camera over
  8. on the right hand side there it you control board or cable
  9. VERY VERY carefully pry up the control board it can rip very easily
  10. now you can remove your LCD you might have to pry it up CAREFULLY because it might be taped down.
Hope this helps It is not that easy to repair digital cameras if you feel unsure about the repair leave it to the experts it would only cost you around 85.00 + Shipping to have the camera fixed. I repair these all the time and Know it is not that easy to fix.

"frozen" unless connected to TV

See if you can take pictures with it- ignore the screen for the moment. The fact that the welcome screen comes on - suggests that the screen itself and its connections are OK. Displaying images on the TV say those parts are OK. Taking it apart to 'clean' is not advised there is nothing there that you or I can fix. With this clarified Go to the Nikon website and check with Technical support team.
