While Playing F1 Championship Edition, Screen goes black and in white text Disk Read Error.
I have removed the disk its clean, I tried other disk the console will not even recognise there is a disk loaded. I have powered off and let the unit cool down, I have gone back and reset to default settings nothing appears to work. Everytime I load a disk the system does recogise on is loaded..
I fear the Disk Read Error of the PS2 world are now effecting the Sony latest and Greatest... Help Please!!

Its a problem with the latest download update. sorry to say but its a job for sony as long as its still under warranty. just phone them up explain the probs your having and they will send you a new (normally reconditioned) unit out. i'm getting my new one tomorrow. upset it broke but sony's replacement service is very good.

Try resetting your PS3, or deleting the cookies and cache. If you PS3 is in warranty, just phone Sony and they'll sort it out. It could be an issue with overheating, so you could look into buying an intercooler, but I recommend calling Sony and going through them before doing anything that could void your warranty.

does this only happen with CoD4? If so you may have a faulty disk. Goto your local blockbuster and rent CoD4 and see if it does the same thing. If it does, you need to RMA your ps3 877-253-SONY and request a RMA.
I'm having the same issue. Doesn't matter what game disk is in, after a little while of playing, the screen goes black with the message that disk can not be read. Eject disk and power off, then power back on and re insert disk. No error code is given. I just bought this console yesterday and this error has happened probably 10 times already. Wanted to get online and see if this was a common wii problem or I just possible got a bad one.
