Re: loss of signal

I have the same problem(and others too)
After it freezes, I have to turn it off and turned on again. Sometimes it works. I think, that these problems can be fixed only in repair shops (Dealers) only, prohabs that's the whole idea...
I paid over $1,000.00 when it came out. I wouldn't pay for it $200.00 if I would know.....
There are units on market today, that cost less than $200.00 and do better jod than Magelan 700!

Good luck! drj.

Nav-cam 7500, gps signal poor and takes up to 30 mins to respond.

Overcome the problem, bought an external arial (magnetic). Bought it on E Bay for a couple of pounds. You have to put it on roof when travelling it works great, socket is mmcx.

No not normal at all, unless you leave it in the car switched off and drive several hundred miles to a different location. It could also mean the signal to the antenna is blocked. Try it outside of the car and away from all transmitter equipment (cell phones, blue tooth stuff) If it works okay there it could be because the windshield is blocking signals due to a metal vapour coated windshield (usually French cars have this issue)

Dropped signal after 10 min opertation

This sounds like a thermal issue. Maybe the lcd is overdriven and getting hot. To find out if this is the case, blow cold air on the receiver while it is running. If it stays connected longer than normal under these chilly conditions, then chances are that some component is overheating and shutting off. It will be most likely a transistor on the signal receiving portion of the board. In that case, I am sure that you will need to send it in to Garmin for repair. Good Luck!

Loss of signal after about 10 minn of time

If it happens around the same suburb the sattelite can't get to that area.

Or it is programmed for another location meaning : it wont display most of the places near you.

Or if its old it wasn't programmed with all the streets as new streets do get built alot.

Also this GPS is a pretty bad one as I am already dealing with 5 others They are all 660s and are the only GPS with problems.

Hope this helps - Josh

Loss of signal

Leslie, Not updating your GPS isn't going to cause signal loss. Push the options key, go to configuration, then to diagnostics, scroll down.. select reset gps. it will say it takes 5 min. to relocate.. etc. see if that fixes it. If it doesn't fix then when you restart your unit and the user menu appears. Press "-" key and "repeat" button at the same time.. then select clear gps user data or.. user data gps... something to that nature.. Hope this works out for ya. -Dan
