Hi, I have a link for a possible solution below... support.microsoft.com/kb/884787 You must be "Allowed" to connect thru sic"a wireless internet user" The machine ya connect to must have Internet connection sharing set up. You can use the Network Setup Wizard to help you connect up. Basically.. ya have "Peer to Peer" and an "Access Point" depending on your setup. With peer to peer ya gotta set it all up with intenet connection sharing set up to "Allow" a "Remote" WiFi PC to connect to the internet.. With an "Access Point" one simply "Finds" & connect up to the correct, SSID... (Unique network name) and the Access Point sorts out ya internet connection.

Hi, A couple of things you should check: 1. Has the "wireless internet user" enabled his Internet Sharing? If yes, how has is this user sharing it with you, through an AP/Router? 2. If he is using an AP/Router, are there any security settings enabled such as WEP, WPA, or MAC Filter? If yes, you have to get the security key and enter it into your configuration. 3. Is the DHCP Server in the AP/Router enabled? 4. If yes to #3, have you made your networking "Obtain an IP Address Automatically? 5. If no, you have to get/set the allowed IP address that you can use, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS Servers; 6. Can you ping the AP/Router or at least the "wireless internet" user IP Address. To ping, Start, Run, type "cmd", type "ping IP add of wireless internet user and/or AP/Router; 7. In your browser, enable Auto detect proxy settings for this connection; Pls post back with: a. How do you connect, a wifi card/USB or built-in? b. What AP/Router are you connecting to? c. What browser are you using, IE, Mozilla, Opera? Hope this be of some help/idea. Good luck and kind regards.

My D-LINK 300 wireless router cannot braodcast the internet signal to my laptop computers, what are the step by step procedure that I have to take? Thank you very much hoping somebody can help me

creativetech_21.jpg
Reset the router to factory default setting, press and hold the reset button for few seconds (It is at the back of the router near the DC Power Jack). The LEDs will then blink and the routers factory settings would be restored. Please note that, after resetting the router you should be able to see the router and connect to it via LAN Cable of Wirelessly as the router automatic assigns the IP Address and gateway etc. Before proceeding to the next step please make sure that you are getting the signals as well as internet. However, the internet connection would not be secure, which can be done later.

Now, all you have to do is connect to the router and secure the connection follow the following steps: -
First you have to access the router through web browser (Internet Explorer) by typing the IP address of your router in the address bar, which is 192.168.0.1 (Default router settings are written under the router)
(unless you've configured otherwise, the default username is admin and the password "leave it blank") and lookup for the options to do the following: -
1. Change the SSID (Name) of the router
2. Change the default administrative user name and password
(The above step would prevent unauthorized access to your router)

Next step is to secure it:
1.On the left-hand side, under Setup, click "Wireless Setup" 2.Under "Wireless Security Mode", select your desired encryption method (preferably WPA2-PSK)
3.Choose a Network Key - it can be anything, as long as it's 8-63 characters in length
4. Click Save Settings.
In the screen shot below I have highlighted the above mentioned options.
creativetech_20.jpg
Now your router and your connection would become secure and the user has to provide the network key to access the internet.

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.
Hope it helps! Good Luck!
Don't forget to convey your feedback and approciate the efforts.

Your Linksys Wireless-N Router comes with the Cisco Connect software which makes setting up and managing your Linksys Wireless-N Router a quick and simple experience. You'll have your Linksys Wireless-N Router up and running in no time.

NOTE: The Linksys E2100L router is only available in the U.S. For help on setting up a Valet or Valet Plus, please click here.

Some basic requirements before you begin
i. An active Internet connection.
ii. A computer with a wireless or wired Ethernet adapter, running one of the operating systems below.
- Windows XP with Service Pack 3
- Windows Vista with Service Pack 1 or better
- Windows 7
- Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.9
- Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11
- Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.8
- Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.1
Getting started
Provided that the above requirements are met, you can now begin setting up your Linksys Wireless-N Router. In this example, we'll be setting up the Linksys E3000 High Performance Wireless-N Router. The following steps will walk you through the entire process.
Step 1:
Your Linksys Wireless-N Router allows you the freedom of running setup via a wired or wireless connection. Therefore, please start by performing the instructions under the description that best matches the computer you're working with. Proceed to Step 2 once you're done.
Description A:
You are using a computer with no wireless connectivity that is normally connected with an Ethernet cable to your DSL/Cable modem.

Instructions A:
Please connect one end of the supplied Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on your computer, and connect the other end into one of the numbered Ethernet ports at the back of your Linksys Wireless-N Router.
Description B:
You are using a laptop with a built-in wireless adapter.

Instructions B:
If you're using a laptop, please ensure that its wireless feature is switched ON, and that your laptop is positioned within 5 feet of your Linksys Wireless-N Router.
NOTE: Most laptops have a switch that turns its wireless feature ON and OFF. Refer to your laptop's documentation or online help if you're unsure where this switch is. This doesn't apply if you purchased an external wireless adapter separately.
Step 2:
On your computer, insert the supplied Setup CD that came with your Router. Setup should start automatically.

NOTE: If setup doesn't load automatically, please click here.

Step 3:
The first screen greets you with the Software End User License Agreement. Please take a moment to read through and understand the agreement. Once you're ready, go ahead and click Next.

NOTE: The setup process automatically generates a unique and secure Wireless Network Name (SSID) for your convenience.

kb21463-006_en.png Step 6:
The next part of the setup automatically detects your Internet connection type. If you are using a DSL connection, you may be requested to enter your account details. If this is the case, simply enter your Account name and Password in the allocated fields. Otherwise, you may skip ahead to Step 7.
NOTE: If you don't know your Account name and Password, your Internet Service Provider (ISP) will be able to provide these details.
