Question about Garmin StreetPilot C330 GPS Receiver

1 Answer

Volume control gone/no voice

I've been using the 330 for 9 months with no problems. Suddenly, no voice is being emitted from the machine. When I check the volume control on the side, the dial is stiff. When I move the dial, nothing appears on the screen (there are not the usual bars or the sound that accompanies increasing or decreasing volume). Also, the touch screen seems to be off, as I push on 1 favorite and I am given the one beneath it. Any ideas?

No voice prompts on my new nuvi 750- volume level not muted.

I had the same problem after I had my Nuvi 750 for a few months.  The voice just stopped.  I called Garmin and they replaced it under warranty.

My Tom Tom XL 330 S doesn't name the streets-just says TURN HERE

When you choose a voice on your tomtom device, you will need to select a voice with the word 'computer' next to gender of the voice you select.

this will activate two option on the next screen allowing you to tick read street names.

Tomtom xl 330.s wont speek street names

Yes Nickarino is right.
When I switched on my new tom tom it gave me that option to speak street names and it vanished after selected a different voice. I checked all manuals and web references in Tom Tom - none of them list it.
Like Nick said - what you need to do is swtich the voice type to SAMANTHA and it will show the option "Read Street Names Loudly". I jumped on it and said yes ..!!!
Thanks Nick !!

Garmins Nuvi 350 - voice interactive lost

I have the same problem with my Nuvi 350. It's only about 2 months old and the sound went. I turned it on the other day to use it and the sound did not sound right, it sounded like the speaker was blown. I turned it off and turned it back on and that was it, the sound was gone. I did everything possible and can't get the sound to come back. I called Garmin and now I have to send it in for repair. I looked around the web and noticed that Garmins have big issues with the sound going on the units. I hope they fix that issue.

My text to speech functionality where the GPS read street names is not working on my TOMTOM XL 330 S. I have it set to the computer voice and the volume up but I actually get no voice instructions at all....

When you go to change prefernces/change voice don't use a recorded voice instead use the arrow forward or back to get to computer voice. Then you can select "read aloud street names"

Voice prompts

Most likely there is a cold solder connection at the contacts of the volume control, or there is a break on the circuit board and you are pushing pressure to join the break, or there are other types of cold solder connections, or the volume control itself is defective.
