You would need to upgrade to a wireless card if your computer does not have one. Even with a wireless connection you would still need to have one computer hooked up with a wire. The other computers on the network could be wireless if they all have wireless cards. Google will have tons of info on wireless cards & networking. Select the setuo best suited for your use & preferences. Hope this helps.

I cant find a wireless option on my inspiron 537

does your pc have a wireless card installed in it? otherwise you will not show any wireless connections or options. older desktops did not have wireless cards, like modems, installed originally. if you install one after-market on your motherboard, you will need to load drivers too. then restart and check for windows updates.

How to turn on wireless switch on a desktop

I've never seen a 'switch' on a desktop to turn-on wireless, like there are on Laptops/Notebooks.

Usually it is either a device that is install in a slot in the PC, or it is a USB plug-in adapter. There ARE some motherboards with built-in Wireless ability, those can be turned-On/Off in the BIOS.

You would have to have a Wireless Router/Wireless Access Point in place already, it would need to be setup and security enabled.

Then it would be a matter of installing the driver for the device....WHEN you do that depends on the type of adapter you have:

add-on slot adapter -- Install adapter, then driver software
USB -- install driver software, DO NOT plug-in adapter until directed to do so, or the driver installation finishes.

Can get wireless on my dell gx270

Most desktop computers do not have a wireless card installed.
You need to install a wireless card in the expansion slot and install the wireless driver, then configure this wireless card with your router's wireless settings so it can connect to the wireless router.

Network card disappeared. Can not get on the internet. System does not acknowlege network card

  1. Try a system restore to a previous date when you were able to use the internet. E.g. yesterday.
  2. If not, try to disable and enable the Wi-Fi adapter in the device manager and see whether its help.
  3. Try to install the driver for your wireless card and see whether it helps.
  4. Open your computer and check for any loose connection
  5. I very much doubt for a faulty wireless card but if the above steps fail, you need to consider.

Good Luck!

Unable to locate printer

Also check that:

1. It is the DEFAULT printer in the computer you are using
2. Load driver again from the manufacturer's CD and not the WIndows driver.
3. Check your USB cable and consider trying a differnt cable also.

Wireless network setup

Hi,

Based on your post, you currently have a working Netgear WiFi Card installed in your laptop. What you want to do is remove it from the laptop and install the said card to your desktop.

For your desktop to be able to accept the NetGear WFi card which is a PCMCIA Cardbus device, you need to install either:
1. a USB Adapter for PCMCIA as shown here; or
2. a CardBus/PCMCIA to PCI Adapter Card available here.

Either one will work. Of course you need to install the necessary drivers for the NetGear MA701NA in your desktop which is available from the CD installer that came with the NetGear or online here.

Considering the cost of the USB adapter or the PCMCIA to PCI card, you may want consider buying a PCI WiFi card or USB WiFi dongle.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Print from laptop wirelessly

Yes there is NO reason why you can't. You must simply install the Printer Drivers on BOTH PC's. Using the Software supplied, first Setup/Install the printer on your Desktop PC, FIRST, as a LOCAL printer. Then 2nd, from ya lappy setup your printer as a "Networked" printer.. locate and connect.. the driver will install, & ya can then print a Test Page, to see if it is all OK. After the Drivers are installed at BOTH locations you will be able to print from your laptop through your desktop to ya printer... no worries..
