Question about Akai PT5598HD 55" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

Dead television I purchased this unit in July of 2006. Last month, it suddenly went dead..... no sound, no picture, nothing. I contacted the technician provided through AKAI, he made the house call, and ended up taking the set in. First he told us that the deflection board was burned. Today, weeks later, he informed us the tubes are shot and repairs would be over $1000. I guess my question is, in your experiences, does AKAI accept any responsibilty for these problems? No, I am not spending $1000 to repair a television.

Re: Dead television

Get a second well-qualified diagnosis. Akai does stand behind
their product as well as any mfr , but you are out of warranty.
A skilled tech should be able to tell you on a service call " what's
up! ".................................................T.

I have a Vizio Model P50HDTV10a and it suddenly went dead. Their is no led nothing. Its a year and 4 months old.

Is the tv still under warranty? possibly a blown fuse if you don't get anything at all, you could inspect the power area, but be aware there are dangerous voltages inside.

RCA P52810lv will not power on

Completely dead with nothing suggests maybe a blown or open fuse--first step would be to unplug and look for a fuse--follow the power cord.

Started making a humming or vibrating sound, and the color and resolution went bad at the same time. Now when I attempt to turn it on, I get the same vibration sound and nothing else.

This tv have a colors wheel,it dead.Require changing.Humming or vibrating sound,Flashes pictures black&white. The colors wheel is dead and it not spinning in it axis motor correctly anymore.Hire a tv Tech. to change the colors wheel,it very hard to change the colors wheel.Because u have to take out many machanical parts, even before u can get to the colors wheel itself.

Samsung le32n had it for 16 months came down this morning blue light flashing on bottom of tv but no picture or sound. Tried swapping cables, sockets, leaving it off for a while nothing helps

Those Samsungs and most other HD units can fail within 6-18 months of purchase.. I would contact Samsung and go up the corporate ladder for help. Otherwise you may be looking at a repair bill that is as high as the cost of new unit.

MY Samsung HCN4226W have perfect sound but no picture

I had the same experience with my set. I noticed there were 2 new cables attached to the new board and looking carefully noticed the connectors were different from the old. The new connector fit perfectly into the new board but wasnt the same as the old. I replaced the old cable with the new and the TV remained bad. I then flipped the connector to the main circuit board (bottom left) and the new board worked fine. I know nothing about Tv repair, but this new cable seems to be a universal connector in which the contacts are open on 2 sides...allowing them to be flipped if necessary. Now if I could get that solid line out of the display I'd be set!
