Question about Dell E196FP 19" LCD Monitor
When I extend any laptop onto my monitor the whole screen goes black, with a white blinking line only at the very bottom of the monitor screen. I've tested it with a few other laptops so i know the problem is the monitor. I have also used my laptop with this monitor on the same settings for over a year now so it's a new problem that occurred after i transported it on a trip. When the monitor isn't connected to a computer teh selftest works just fine, and when used as the main monitor on a desktop computer it works fine, the problem only occurs when extending the display from my laptop.
During the move was your laptop dropped or bumped ? If so you might of unseated the video adapter from your laptop. Have you tried another monitor? I wouldnt rule the monitor as the problem. Try another monitor. If you have more questions or problems feel free to get back to me and I will do my best to talk you through a solution.
