Used airtel's pcsecure to clean the virus and then automatically the computer recognised the drive
now it is fine

I have not been able to send an email nor receive one since August 15


1) It's quite possible that you received some malware on August 15 and that closed your account. If you do regular backups run one from August 14 or earlier. Before you do this copy any important files that you have received or created since the date of the backup. This includes any installation files that you have received since Aug. 14 since you will have to reinstall them. Run Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware (the free edition), Junkware Removal Tool (JRT) (donationware), and Roguekiller. Get them from https://www.Bleeping Computer.com. If you use ADWCleaner and you have the Yahoo toolbar it will delete that, but it's a great tool. Roguekiller and JRT are donationware - if they help you send them $5 or $10. You must use PayPal to do this. These developers worked awfully hard to write their original programs and subsequently to keep them up to date. They both helped me in a crisis and I sent them $10 each. You get paid to work, so should they.

2) If you don't create regular backups buy Acronis True Image Home and when your problem is cleared up install it and use its internal scheduler to take care of that problem. Ideally this should be done with a USB 3 port in your computer and a 2 terabytes USB 3 external hard drive. You can get a good one for around $100.

3) If you have no recent backups (a) you've just learned the same mistake that my brother did - don't be a newbie. (b) If you can get into your account go to settings and then write a very detailed but succinct question there. Either a non-Google pro or a Google Pro will have probably will have been queried problem and posted a solution to this problem.

(1) is the easiest solution if you have the backups. If not try Newegg and Amazon for an external hard drive, buy Acronis and get to work.

(2) is something that you should do if you don't have regular backups and that is for many reasons.

(3) may or may not get you somewhere.

Check you hard drive partition - you may not need a disc to reinstall Windows. Find out from the MFR's website if there is a way to initialize the recovery partition before Windows boots.

Gps says to update unit


The GPS has detected that the maps loaded inside have been in place for a year or more, and is prompting you to update the unit with new maps. You do not need to update the maps if you are happy with the maps in it. The drawback is that since the maps were compiled in the unit, new roads, construction, etc. have been built or changed. This reduces the accuracy of the GPS, and can be noticeable when driving to a new location - when the GPS directs you to travel roadway that no longer exists.

You should log on to www.garmin.com to download firmware updates and learn about new maps that are available for your GPS. Additionally, speak to a customer service rep. if you have questions about software, firmware & updates - the help is free and there's no pressure to buy anything.

After many hours of reinstalling the drivers, the firmware, on thephone with Microsoft and on the phone with HP to no avail, I discoveredthe work around myself.

Just so you know what you were dealing with, as it may resurface, seeboth of Chris H's replies in this thread. Since the error was the same,it was a driver fault, and replacing the driver, not necessarily thatspecific UPD driver, that fixed it.

Update:

I continued to look at the issue and now think the problem is not thedriver, but the application software. Using the 64-bit driver for theCM1312:

1. I can print color using Paint and text using Notepad.

2. I cannot print from Adobe 9, IE 7 and Office 2007 (downloaded 9/17/08) in color. If I do I get the
PCL XL error
Subsytem: KERNEL
Error: Illegal Operator Sequence
Operator: EndSession
Position: 15

3. I CAN print all the products in 2 if I switch to grayscale.

4. I can print screen captures from the products in 2 using Paint -which may be my workaround until HP and Microsoft get together on asolution.

So does anyone from HP monitor this and report the issue and resolve it?

Need to increase hard drive and memory


Easier said than done...

If you have the specifications of your current memory, you should be able to find higher capacity compatible RAM at any computer or office supply store. If you can find the right kind, then you simply need to buy it and put it in. Older and more rare types you may need to order via internet.

Upgrading the hard drive can be a tough process. Some drives used to come with upgrading software right on the drive (like Maxtor for example) but they don't seem to do that any more. So, besides buying the right type (either PATA or SATA connector) drive, and the size you want, you have to check your system specs to see how large a drive you can put in, older systems are limited. In addition, you would need to buy hard drive duplicating software, like Powerquest Drive Image.

Although they write that there is a clonning software included, they do not mention anything about how it will be done or if you need a double bridge on the cable (to connect two drives).
