Question about Canon PIXMA iP1600 Printer
Whenever i try to print, an error message pops up saying that an ink cartridge is not installed properly. I've taken them out and put them back in numerous times, and nothing seems to be working. I know they are the right cartridges and that they are properly installed. But the printer refuses to print.
Did you make sure that the colored tape was removed from the back of the ink cartridges? The manufacture puts the tape on there to protect the circuits during shipping. If the tape is still there it would not be able to communicate with the printer or computer.

Got the same problem, i just want to ask whether i have to replace the cartridge already since, none of your instructions worked for me...hope you could help me out, i been thinking hard about it so bad

unplug machine from power outlet. take all carts out. wait 5 min. plug machine to power. wait until machine demands carts. reinsert carts and make sure they are secured. answer display when asked if you have changed.
If you still have the error message use a original brother cart.

For the Canon iP1800 printer are you sure you're using the 30 for black and 31 for color?
And make sure they "click" when installed. That should confirm that they're nice and tight in their ink compartments.
Besides that, maybe reinstalling the printer drivers could do something?
