THE PICTURE OF THE LOCK WAS MY MISTAKE BECAUSE I MOVED THE SLIDER TO EXPOSE THE MIC.( I was simply trying different things to unfreeze it ) BUT THE POINT IS THAT WHEN I TURN IT ON OR PLUG THE JACK INTO THE USB PORT TO ADD MUSIC, IT STILL IS FROZE ON THE SAME SCREEN.
SO THE QUESTION IS HOW DO I DO A FACTORY RESTORE WHEN I CAN'T GET TO THE NEXT SCREEN? I FELT YOUR ANSWER OR REPONSE TO MY PROBLEM WAS RATHER VAGUE.

The picture of the lock appears when you have the keypad-lock switched on (which is used to prevent accidentally pressed keys from interrupting your listening enjoyment). There's a slider at the bottom of the unit, and if it's showing orange, the unit is locked. Slide it back and you should be good to go.

SanDisk Sansa froze on song screen, wont unfreeze

Make sure the player is fully charged. 1. Connect the player to your computer. 2. Make sure the computer detects the player.
NOTE: If needed, switch the player to MSC mode, 1. Turn device OFF. 2. Slide the Hold switch down to Lock (orange color showing). 3. Press and hold the center button while connecting the device to the PC.then connect it to the PC. Next Be sure the battery is charged 1. Leave the player connected for approximately 2 hours to charge. 2. Disconnect the player from the PC. 3. Verify if you can turn on the player. 4. Reset the player if necessary.
To reset the player: 1. Press and hold the Power/Menu button for approximately 20 seconds. 2. Release the Power/Menu button. 3. Press the Power/Menu button again to turn on the player.
If that does not do it, re-seat the battery: Then try and see if it will come on with out the battery hooked to your computer, which I see you have done but did you change modes MSC to MTP . next delete the song it keeps hanging on and re-copy it back on to the player from a different folder or re-rip it from the CD and copy it into a new folder then re-copy to the player.

I hv sansa clip 1gb - in which i have some songs i.e aprox.850mb and that cannot be seen in my pc in sansa clip as a drive g.how to delete songs and add songs , is there any driver of software or...

1. First, check your device setting up on MTP or MSC? Turn on device, go to "settings" , press down or up to find "USB Mode", you can see the check mark at MTP (auto detect) or MSC mode. Change to another usb mode.
2. You have 2 ways to delete songs:
2.1. Delete songs by device: play songs, press down (sub menu) until you meet "delete song", select it and yes
If you delete all items in device: Settings, Format, and yes
2.2. Delete songs by computer: plug device to computer, double click on device icon, Music folder, and delete songs you want. If you don't see songs in there, unplug the device from pc, and then change USB mode, and plug device to pc to delete.
Good luck

Mp3 player wont play songs or anything

Only 2 suggestions here: 1) Make sure your HOLD switch is not enabled. 2) Try to update the firmware If neither of these work, time to send the unit back to Sandisk

If you open the Sansa as normal Win file directory, can you see them? Is "Show Hidden Files" enabled in the file options?
