I download songs into my Itunes but the C: drive still decreases

I thought that if I connected an external hard drive to my computer I would get additional memory when I download songs into my ITunes. Do you know why it does this?

The external hard drive will have a different drive letter than the default hard disk (C:). So in iTunes, you need to configure a different location to store your songs.
Just open My Computer and you should see the new drive letter.
Alternatively, you can move other files from the C: drive to the new external drive.

How do I backup itunes file on external harddrive

It's a good idea to regularly back up all important files on your computer to an external source to prevent data loss. Your iTunes music, videos and other digital downloads are stored in separate files within the iTunes folder. However, if you consolidate them into a single folder, it's easier to back them up to an external hard drive.

Launch iTunes. Go to the program's Preferences menu. Click the "Advanced" tab. Check the box next to "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library" and click "OK." Click "File." Select "Library" and then "Organize Library." Check the box next to "Consolidate Files" and click "OK." Close iTunes. Connect your external hard drive to your computer. Find the iTunes media folder on your computer's hard drive. Drag the folder to the icon for your external drive to copy your iTunes media.

How do I download music from my iPod to my computer?

Hi nikonf2a

You will need to download Itunes to your computer, download your songs into Itunes, after you get your songs downloaded to Itunes, then you will plug in your Apple Ipod into your computer with Itunes running on the computer.
The Itunes will recognize the mp3 player and download your songs on to it.

Itunes on my laptop will not sync to my ipod and has wiped all my music from ipod.

First of all when you sync your ipod with another computer all of your songs, videos and etc will erase by itunes application.Example the first sync was on your desktop using itunes and it was successfully transferred the songs and videos. But you want to add songs from your laptop, so copy the songs to your usb flash drive or external hard drive then paste it to your desktop computer. Then plug your ipod to your desktop computer and run the itunes application then add songs you want to transfer,by syncing or copying the song to your ipod your old songs will not be erase. Have a nice day

How do I play and/or connect to my iTunes from and external drive

LeftField,

Attach your external drive.
Create the directory on that drive that you want Itunes to store your music.
Open up Itunes.... go to the edit menu and select preferences.
Go to the advanced tab. there is an option there for change my preferred directory. Change this to the directory you created at the beginning of this instruction.
Now copy all of you songs from your music folder on the laptop to the one on the external drive.
Confirm that ALL of your songs transferred OK then delete them from the laptop.

You should NOW be all set to enjoy music from your external drive. (Be sure to always have your external drive attached when you open Itunes.... If yoou don't Itunes will look for the external, not find it and revert BACK to the default directory)

Hope this helps you
