Question about Raymarine E120 GPS Receiver
I have an E120 screen at the helm of my sailboat and an E80 screen at the nav station. The E80 unit has the nav chip in it. I always turn on the E80 unit first and it has been set up as the master. But when I turn on the E120 display at the helm it doesn't seem to know if it is the master or repeater and offers to be reset as the master (but not as the repeater). If I press the softkey to make the E120 the master it will sometimes then offer me the option to be the repeater, but not always. If I use the two units every day, they rarely have this problem, but if I go a week they always have this problem. If I shut the E120 down and then restart it, I can sometimes get the E120 to agree it is the repeater, Other times I must shut down both units over and over.
The master/repeater selection is for the purpose of determining which display is in control of the waypoint and route database.
Turn on both units and let them boot up. Do not answer the master/repeater question until both are on. Then press "Set as master" on the preferred one.
The units remember individually if they were set as a master or repeater the last time they were on. If they are powering up to find themselves in a different configuration than they were previously in, that will prompt the whole master/repeater thing to happen.
