you cant drive with a dash cover ---clean window and use visors and in some places they allow a short strip of tint on front windshield check the local vehicle laws
Taping the 2 wires together is shorting them out and blowing the fuse, so disconnect them.
Now let me start off by telling you that I do not know anything about your particular vehicle, but I cant see it being much different from others, so lets see what I can do to help.
Obviously the 2 wires fed power to something electrical in the visor and I am guessing there is a mirror light fitted to it. Is there anything else electrical fitted to the visor? A controller button for example.
If you still have the ripped out visor open it up with a craft knife to see where the wires went to. Try reattaching the wires (make sure you connect same colors) to where they were ripped off and see if that makes everything work again.....no need to attach the visor into place, just testing the wiring for now.
If everything works again, then the problem will be that the wiring and what it connects to in the visor is part of the circuit and needs to be attached for everything to work without some major re-wiring. The easiest way is to get a replacement from a scrap or salvage yard as I guess a new one from Buick is very costly, if still available. The other route is to fully remove the electrical wires and connectors from the cut open visor, reattach to the 2 wires and try to tidy up the work as best you can.
Now for the bad news..... If when you tried connecting the 2 wires to the cut open visor nothing worked as it should, then either the visor was damaged when ripped out, in which case you will need to check out with a replacement one, or (and here is the really bad news) the wiring left behind (the 2 that you taped together) is damaged further into the loom and that is where the problem is. Exactly where, I do not know. It is also possible that taping the 2 wires together damaged something else, but don't beat yourself up about that as most people, myself included would probably have done the same thing.
Let me know if I have been of any help and good luck with it all.
LOL, not much you can do about the glare unless you buy some type of cover that goes over the screen.
Have you tried darkening the screen by using your keyboard keys that controls the brightness and darkness? Usually they work in conjunction with the FN function key.
SELL THE DAMN TOYOTA! OURS CAME OFF TOO! I ORDERED A NEW ONE AND NO INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS CAME WITH IT. IT WILL LOCK IN PLACE ON ONE SIDE WHERE THE VISOR CLIPS ON BUT ONCE WE PUT THE VISOR DOWN ONE SIDE POPS OUT! I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE WITH THIS CAR AND I SWEAR WE WILL NEVER EVER BUY ANOTHER TOYOTA!!
I made contact with cannon and received this reply.
I was satisfied with the answer but the question still remained on how to remove the glass should i wish to do so.
Also after there answer... would there then be a problem if i did clean the reverse side.
Their answer was initialy this...
The foggy haze on the glass is actually an anti-glare treatment that has been intentionally applied to the underside of the scanner glass. This treatment lessens the glare from the lamp under the glass and provides better image quality. This haze may not appear uniform because of the shape of the scanner base and the components under the glass. However, the anti-glare treatment has been uniformly applied and the haze is as expected. The treatment should not affect the scan quality or output of the 8600F.
I'm not sure what either of those suggestions would have to do with glare on the screen. Could you try to describe, in detail, what this "glare" is that you are talking about? Thanks! Ron-
Recent version's of the HOTSYNC app have a provision for IR transfers (older versions may not though). So you should check the HOTSYNC app on the Visor and see if it already has IR transfer abilities.
If it does:
Use the downarrow to specify the IR transfer on the Visor. Setup HOTSYNC on the computer to accept IR transfers. Line up the ports and tap the HOTSYNC button on the Visor's display.
If it doesn't:
You may be outta luck. Downloading an updated version of the HOTSYNC app (or some other utility) won't help because you'll need to Sync in order to get the app on the Visor.
