I don't know where to put my picture card at

I have a eMachine W3611. I would like to see my digital pictures on my PC. I have a Fujifilm xD 256 mb Picture Card. Can my eMachine read this card. If so, where do I place the card?

I don't have any idea which slot to place it in. I have four different slots, all different sizes. My picture card does not fit into any of these, but thank you very much!

Well, I popped it in, but still nothing. I recently removed Vista from my computer, so maybe it's not reading the card because I am now using XP Professional. Thank you for all the information. I wish this was all there was to it.

OKAY! Added a new driver for my picture card & now everything is working the way it is supposed to be working! Thank you to everyone who helped!

According to eMachine's webpage, your dejtio should have a built in card reader.
It should look like this and will be located at the front of your computer: Your card should fit in the top right slot (according to this picture) or a slot marked with the words "SD".

Once you put your card in the slot (make sure you put it in the right
way: contacts towards the computer. There is only one way to put it in
    - upwards or downwards facing. Be gentle!) you should see a new drive
letter when you open My Computer.

But after you installed XP, you might be missing is the correct driver for your card reader.

Go to your Device Manager (right-click My Computer -> Manage -> Device Manager) and look for any yellow exclamation mark, esp. next to something like Secure Digital Host Controller. If there is a little "+" sign, expand it and try to right-click on the device and choose Update Driver.

You might be lucky and Windows can find the driver itself. If not, we
have to find the manufacturer of the card reader and look for the
driver. eMachine provides only drivers for Vista, but we can look at other places. If that is the case, just come back here and leave a comment -
    I'm happy to help.

Yes. On the front of your machine about 1/2 way down, you will see several slots for different media cards..Once you place the card in, your PC will automatically recognize the media and give you access. From there, you can drag the pics to your desktop or folder.

I BOUGHT A USED OLYMPUS D-395 CAMERA, WITH NO CARD . WHAT CARD DO I NEED

The camera takes a 3V xD Picture Card (3.3 V). The original one was 16 MB; the camera will support an xD card between 16 and 512 MB. Olympus will sell you a 256 MB card for $10 here: https://us.buyolympus.com/xd-picture-card-h256mb.html . Another site with the correct size xD Picture cards is http://www.memorysuppliers.com/olxdpiccar.html .

Details for the Olympus D-395 camera are available from Olympus under Archived Products. See http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_archived_product_details.asp?id=953 . Links to the manual and specs are on the site.

I hope this helps.

Hi, Can't find 256 MB xd picture card for older camera?

Hi Mark,

I did some checking and found that another expert had a similar question on 10/2/08. According to kenshin99, the limit on the cards is 256mb but some have had luck with the 512mb cards.

I think your best place to find those would be on sites like eBay or Craigslist

Camera display says card not initialized. how do i initialize a fujifilm 256 mb xd picture card?

The card needs to be "formatted" in the camera. This is found in the "setup" menu. It will wipe everything off the card, so if there's anything important on it now, save your data to a disk or hard drive. If there isn't anything important on it, perform the format and it will be like a new card. If this helped, please rate the solution favorably. Thanks

konieczne sformatowanie xD-Picture Card.

XD memory card confusion

The xD-Picture Card (xD stands for "extreme digital.") is a flash memory card format developed and introduced to the market in July 2002 by Olympus and Fujifilm, and manufactured by the Toshiba Corporation. xD cards are in Olympus and Fujifilm digital cameras, and are available in a range of sizes, from 16 MB to 2 GB currently. A higher-performance xD card known as Type M came out in 2005, and uses Multi Level Cell (MLC) architecture.
An xD card is 20mm x 25mm x 1.78mm and weighs about 2.8 g, making it significantly smaller than the nearly matchbook-sized CF card and about half the size of the SD/MMC card. As far as size goes, it is much closer to miniSD or RS-MMC. The manufacturer listed write speeds for xD-Picture Cards are: for the 16 MB and 32 MB card, 1.3 MB/s and for the 64MB and higher cards, 3 MB/s. Both offer a minimum read speed of 5 MB/s. The xD Type M cards have a faster standard rate of 4.0MB/s for reading and 2.5MB/s for writing.
Anything up to 2gb will work with your camera, either the type M or the type M+ will be fine.

have you tried formatting the card first within the camera, as it may be corrupt, or try it in a card reader and format that way.
