Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

Stopped cooling/freezing still sounds like it is running

Yesterday morning I thought one of the kids had left the freezer door open since there was water all over the kitchen floor and the food in the freezer had started to thaw. This morning I discovered that everything in the refrigerator was luke warm. There is no cool air at all, however it sounds like the unit is working. It has not made any strange sounds. We purchased this at Lowe's in 2003 and have not had any problems up until now.

Hi
You have condesation built up in your freezer whereby the evaporator fan or the vents are most likely blocked off.

Turn fridge off. Empty freezer and either put a pot of boiling water inside freezer or with the aid of a hair dryer try to defrost the freezer. If you are able to remove the back panel on the freezer that would be ideal as you can directly target the frost.
Good luck

When a refrigerator door is left open the freezer will continue to run to keep it cold and since it can't cool an open area it will freeze up on the inside, to resolve this you will need to unplug the fridge and open the freezer door and allow the freezer to thaw completely, once it is thawed you can plug it back in and everything should go back to normal after a 24 hour period

You need to check the temp in the freezer to make sure it's down to around 10 degrees. The alarm will go off much above that.

hi. thanks for the question. leaving the door open ,would let a lot of moisture to enter the freezer, and cause it to frost up. to clear frost. cut power to fridge, open the doors .,let thaw over nite clean up the water mess. dry the inside of fridge & freezer turn power on good to go. to stop the door from being left open .lift the legs under the front so the fridge has more weight, and it will close by self . no more doors left open. thanks the appliance doc

Refrigerator compartment not cooling

If you are sure the fan in the freezer is running and you don't feel any air flow out of the top middle vent inside the fridge section, then the damper motor must be bad. The damper motor is behind that vent cover inside the fridge section.
