First, check your finger screen and energy filter. If they are dirty on these automatic pool cleaners, this can cause the unit to not move. Clean them if necessary. Next, check to make sure that the backup hydro-timer is not releasing most of the water out of the discharge hole. If it is, the unit will not move properly and you will need to replace the defective jet gear assembly. Finally, check to make sure that the transporter jet is not plugged up and that the debris chambe is not full.

Our dirt devil pool cleaner keeps sticking to the pool floor and will not move around, what do we need to do?

Make sure that your unifram is installed with the opening in a vertical position. If it is horizontal, you pool cleaners line will not have proper suction. You will also want to check for obstructions in the flapper that would cause the cleaner to not move properly. Finally, make sure that this is the proper cleaner for your pool size. If you have an in ground or very large above ground pool, it is possible that the pump you are operating with is too strong for the cleaner to move properly.

How do I stop the pool cleaner from stopping at the stairs and not moving around the pool?

These pool cleaners should not be having problems moving around the pool. I am going to give you several things to try. Check the return line water flow and redirect it if necessary. Make sure that your hose is long enough to reach all ends of the pool. Make sure that your hose has proper balance. Check that your main drain and all suction lines are completely closed except the one you are using. Check for debris in the filter, pump basket, and the cleaner's flapper.

Cleaner floats at the bottom of the pool and does not sit on the bottom or go forward

On these automatic pool cleaners, the finger screen or energy filter being blocked/clogged is often to blame for the cleaner not moving properly. Check them and clean if they look blocked. You will also want to check for a hole in hose that would cause it to lose pressure. Also, check to make sure that the transporter jet is not plugged.

What model is it? Is it robotic (indepentdent of your pump and filter)? If it is attached to your pump system, it could be the cord getting tangled and causing the pool cleaner to move in circles. You might want to consider running it when you are available to watch it or getting a robotic cleaner that you can set to operate at certain times. You might just need to check the hose for defects that would cause it tangle.
