Question about Compaq Presario 700 470024-192 Notebook
Got a 700uk traded to me by a friend for an old ps1.. anyways the battery doesn't hold a charge so was advised to get another.. the replacement doesn't hold one either despite the battery reading 100% in power management. So the thing will only run on ac power. Also the DVD-ROM/CD-RW plays dvd's and runs data CD's but not audio's. Any ideas??
It's one of two things, the more likely of the two is that that battery is totaly shot, laptop battery's are usually only good for 1.5 years then loose there ability to retain a charge. It sounds like that one's just done. Unfortunatly that those batterys cost more than there worth, 100 bucks or more. The second possibility is the power cord, is that the original power cord for that? Or was on that was bought aftermaket, some aftermarket chargers will only power your laptop and not charge. Also remove the battery and check for corrison. You can build your own battery fot a a laptop if got a few hours time, and are good with a soldering gun. You get the litium ion cells you need for about 40 bucks. Follow the below link for a step by step on how to build your own battery http://www.metacafe.com/watch/479447/lap... As far as the audio problem I would suggest re-istalling the drivers. Good Luck L8R
