The fan on the tv when as soon as it is turned on is loud and annoying, I noticed at times there looked to be light flashing on the screen, now the noise has stopped(like a fan motor) and the screen looks like crappy recepiton in shades of grey and green

While i don't recall that particular pro lemme alot of Toshiba sets had an issue with the ballast boars. Basically over time the solder connection s get hot and cool so much that the joints Crack and breal. The ballast board may need to be resoldered. If you choose to try this yourself...be advised there are very high voltages inside a tv that can seriously hurt or kill you.
Sounds like a bad color wheel----remove lamp---the wheel faces it--look
for missing pieces or the wheel shattered---these are known for the
wheel making a loud high pitched sound or even a grinding sound if the
if wheel bad You Tube has video instructions for
replacing it---seen several people able to do this themselves in about a
hour. Google the model number to ("color wheel") to locate a
replacement on the internet.
U hear grinding noises, squiling noise, before colors fades in&out, turn to Black&White picture, than died?Yes,than ur DLP tv have a colors wheel,it defective, require replacing. The colors wheel is spinning off of it motor axis. The tv tech, should be hire for changing the tv colors wheel.
My Toshiba dlp 62hm116 was used for 3 months then stored for 2 years, I turned it on yesterday and it makes a loud grinding noise which I think is probably from the exhaust fan area and the picture is black except white at both vertical sides. It worked fine the last time I used it 2 years ago. Any ideas?
What is Wrong with TV? Have you replaced Lamp? If so and still no picture then it can be Ballast Board it connects to Lamp Box , Ballast is what turns Lamp on Call Encompass 1-800-638-3328 or Mats 1-800-628-1118 and you can also look up Parts on E-Bay!
You likely just have a bad lamp. It is possible the light engine itself is causing the problem but the easiest way to determine which one is giving the problem is to replace the lamp. If the problem still persists the light engine is likely bad. The light engine is about $1000 plus installation. The lamp is $349.
without a model number, i can't be much help. if this is a newer dlp or similar tv, the fan is probably going out. some newer tv's have a fan that is part of the light assembly, some have a separate fan.. the loud whirring noise is usually caused by bad bearings or the blades of the fan may have become unbalanced, either way, the fan making the noise will need replacing. the color going is usually caused by the lcd or dlp overheating and/or the lamp overheating.
if the tv is out of warranty, remove the back panel, locate the fan making the noise, and search for a replacement. if you have a model number, i can check around and see if i can find the part number for you.
