My laptop is suddenly not recognising my iluv usb connected speakers. Is there a fix?

To start, try connecting the speakers to a USB port on a second computer. That will help you find out if the problem is with the speakers or the computer.

If the speakers work on the 2nd computer, try connecting a different device to the same USB port on the computer. Also try a different USB port on the same computer.

My toshiba tv 40bv701b won't recognise my usb but when I pull it out it's saying usb disconnected

The most probable is your USB port(s) does not supply proper power anymore. Please unplug any other USB device from your computer, and test the other USB ports (plug in your USB device to the other USB ports).

Hello, my problem is that I work only 1 usb port and do not how or what it could be the order of me

This is not uncommon. If only one USB port is working, you can buy a cheap USB extender with several ports that will plug into the working one and can run all your USB devices from this adaptor. They really are cheap.

The only other solution is to replace the motherboard, as the USB ports cannot be easily repaired on that model

One of my usb ports won't work properly. If you plug something to it for longer than half an hour the usb port stops recognizing the device you plugged. I have an hp dv7 4190us laptop.

Start with the normal fixing methods, including uninstalling the drivers for your devices and reinstalling them. if That didn't work! Next try System Restore thinking that maybe you have installed something and it caused a conflict with the USB system drivers. That didn't work!

go to Device Manager and uninstall all of the devices under USB Controllers. Restart the computer, reinstall the USB drivers,

You may also see in Device Manager that the device shows up as an "Unknown Devic

last fix for the problem? Well, apparently it's a super simple solution! No need to edit the registry, uninstall drivers, or anything of that sort.

Simply UNPLUG YOUR COMPUTER FROM THE POWER SUPPLY. Yes that's it! Note that this does not mean just turning off your computer because modern computers don't really turn off when you press the power button as the motherboard still gets power.

First to explain, the motherboard is where all of hardware of the computer is connected to, including the USB ports. Sometimes the motherboard needs to be "rebooted" also because something can go wrong, i.e. all your USB ports suddenly stop working. The small microprocessor on the motherboard will reload the drivers and your USB ports should be back to recognizing all devices!

So first turn off your computer using Shut Down or pressing the power button and then UNPLUG it from the wall outlet. Let it sit for about a minute and then plug it back in.

HP Printer Usb port in my Acer Laptop , shortcircuits my house

Try using external USB HUB (POWERED) Adapter. It might fix this issue.
Use an other USB cable and see.
If the problem still exist do not plug in the printer again, you may damage your USB port or even burn your laptop motherboard.
hope this helped

My machine is a 2007 Advent 7201 Laptop which is solidly built and performs above expectation, but as of last week it can't recognise any device connected to its usb ports (printers, mobile phones cameras...

It may be that the usb ports have died but before we get carried away lets see if we can check some other things first.

1. disconnect "ALL" usb devices

2. shut down and re start your laptop

3. double check in your hardware control panel that there are no exclamation marks next to any hardware

4 if there are any problems list in your hardware fix those first

5. if you don't have any usb hardware listed go get the latest drivers from the manufacturer and install them.

6 If you don't have any hardware listed and cant install any drivers for them then yes it is more than possible that the usb ports are dead

This could go as far as a new motherboard to fix but only a qualified laptop specialist could give you the answer to that and certainly not over the internet.

If though you got this far without too many problems

1. insert only a pen drive into one of the usb ports

If it shows up then move it to another port until you have checked all ports. If all is good then it is quite possible that you were overloading the ports !

This is common in laptops and my suggestion would be to get a decent quality usb hub that has its OWN POWER SUPPLY.

Anything that you can plug into that will reduce the load on your laptop ports and increase the life of those too.

Note that some hardware does not like hubs.

Power surge on hub port a usb device has exceeded the power limits of its hub port there is nothing connected to my computer

I don't know how old your system might be or how many USB controllers it has on the motherboard, but understand this...

Theoretically, one USB port can support up to 999 "daisy chained" devices.

With that said...the way a USB port is implemented on a motherboard, manufacturers enable two or four ports to be working off of one USB interface. Those ports you see on the front of your computer are most likely connected to just one USB interface on the actual motherboard and that's why you always see computers with USB ports located together in pairs.

With that in mind, you're USB ports are connected to what is referred to as a "hub"(that motherboard interface), which only outputs so much power. If one device or many devices attached to this "hub" exceed the power output of this "hub" then it will either back down to USB 1.1 speeds or it won't function at all. That is why some USB accessories require their own wall adapter, because the USB can't supply all the necessary power for it.

So one of two things has happened, either your USB port is fried or you introduced a new USB item to the "hub" that surpasses the power requirements of what your USB hub can output once you plug in your mp3 player.

You can troubleshoot by unplugging all un-necessary USB equipment and try only that port again. My assumption is that the USB hub is fine but the actual usb port you use might be damaged.

Good luck.

Usb problem

Often this is an electrostatic charge problem on usb hub.
To solve it:
On PC disconnect power cable for 30 mins or so from power outlet.
On laptop, disconnect from power and remove latop battery for 15 mins or so.
If it still does not work, then it may be faulty root hub on motherboard.

USB Port Recognition

You must Look on your Desktop Locate
My Computer
Right click on My computer
click on Properties
Go to the Hardware tab
Click on Device Manager
Locate your USB Ports which are probably at the bottom of that list
If there is an X over the USB Connections you must right click to enable them
The other solution is to plug up the device and follow the above steps
I sensing that this device did not have drivers that were downloaded to your system.
The other thing is try to plug the device into another computer to see if it is reocginized by the other computer. If it is reocognized you know it is not the device. It is software related
