Gas sprays out of the carburetor when running

Main jet in carb is clogged - unit needs to be either cleaned/rebuilt out or replaced.

Your problem is the carburetor. Anytime your equipment runs and shuts right off, you can automatically eliminate spark and air. What you have to do is take the carburetor off and remove the bottom bowl, get carburetor spray from advanced auto, gum out,... Spray into every port in the carburetor, every hole you see, in the direct middle 9f the carburetor is the emulsion tube, spray in there as well. If you have an air compressor, that will help too, blow these holes out. Use 89 octane gas from now on as it's cleaner gas...

Throttle body or carburetor ?

The pilot jet is probably clogged. Take the fuel bowl off the carburetor and look for the hole that passes from the top of the bowl into the main venturi of the carburetor. Try spraying carburetor cleaner spray into the hole; if it doesn't come out in the venturi, it's clogged. Take a really fine wire (a single wire pulled from a wire brush will usually work), and slide it up until you see it protrude into the main venturi. Once you open the orifice, spray carb cleaner throught it. The thing should run after you put it all back together.

Don't leave gas in the tank, or add additive to gas >>> you know that but the next reader might not know.

If you are able to get washer running by spraying WD-40 or some other accelerant directly into carburetor but engine will not continue running ... there are 3 suspects: 1) dirty air filter 2) the exhaust port is clogged with carbon, dirt, etc 3) the carburetor has given out or no gas is getting to carburetor

2) Check exhaust port >>> we finally broke the screen out with a screwdriver so it wouldn't bother us any more
3) Carburetor ... you have spark but the gas is either not getting to carburetor or carburetor is not letting gas in. Pull off rubber line going to carburetor and see if gas flows out. If gas gets to carburetor and all the conditions above are met, then the carburetor needs gum out or rebuilding or replacement

if gas is in carburetor but won't transfer to engine, try to spray down the carburetor 'tube', choke plate and jets with a carburetor cleaner spray. The jets are probably clogged, due to lack of use.

Also, you can try putting carburetor cleaner into the gas tank, a little bit.

If this does not immediately work, then a carburetor rebuild is required, where new jets are put in, and passageways are blown out with compressed air and sprayed with carburetor cleaner in a disassembled state.

If you store the unit with old gas for 3 months or so, then Stabil Gas treatment is recommended. If it's longer than 3 months then the carburetor should be drained or the engine run until it is out of gas in the float bowl.

This may seem a little funny, to do all this, but if one does this, then less expense for carburetor rebuilds can be avoided, over time.

Remove the air filter and set aside.
Take a can of carburetor cleaner and spray the inside of the carburetor.
Let it set for a moment and then try starting the engine. It should run a few seconds. Repeat. When it starts squirt a small shot of cleaner in the carburetor to keep it running. That should remove the varnish the gas leaves as it evaporates over the winter.

If it still won't keep running then there is trash in the float bowl plugging the needle valve seat and the jets.

1) Turn off the gas or remove the gas line and plug it with a small screw or stick to keep it from leaking out of the gas tank.
2) Look on the bottom of the bowl for a nut .
3) Remove the nut and drop the float bowl.
4) Carefully remove the pin holding the float and needle valve assembly.
5) Take the carburetor cleaner with the straw it comes with and spray every hole in the carburetor to clean the jets . (up through the needle valve seat, down top of the carburetor , see a hole, spray it with the cleaner.)
6) Clean the float bowl.
7) Reassemble and make sure the gas isn't leaking and try to start it again.

Well the engine is not getting gas. If you have old gas in the unit the gas may have "jelled". A emptying of the tank and cleaning of the fuel line along with taking the bowl off the carburetor and spraying upwards into the carburetor, including around the float and needle and seat, may work. As always the carb cleaner is flammable so caution is good. Luck to you.

the problems is in the carburetor, common problems when unit does not run often and rust get get build up. get some automotive carburetor cleaners and spray it heavy in the carb, don't worried about flooding it or damaging anything, it will dry out faster than gas. (use little gas if you need to) try to start it up and get it running with the carb cover off and continue to spray carb cleaner in the carb while the engine is running, do this couple of time and hope that would clear it out. if that don't work you will need to take it apart and clean it. you have small tiny object obstructing the carb flow. the unit doesn't have a fuel pump, it run on gravity feed, the carb are easily obstructed. hope that help a bit

Pull the carburetor off and do a rebuild. Pull the gas tank and drain it of any debree . Clean all gas lines. Hope this will help you.donnyb60
