Re: Password

Meowoui, Question to you: did you have an "Admin password" or an "user password"? If you are the "only" user I think both are going to be the same. Anyway.... After you turn "on" your computer, at the very first screen enter F10 (you'll see it at the bottom left corner). That takes you into the setup. It might prompt you for your "password" that you say you wrote down and have been using. If it is "correct" then you will be able to enter "setup" and fix your problem. Or it might let you in to the setup. If not, you need to open the computer and take out the small battery on the mother board. Leave it out for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Re-install it, restart your computer, enter F10 if prompted, it will take you to "setup" where you will need to reset the Bios settings again. And your "new password". This only works on some motherboards. Hopefully yours. Otherwise you will need to re-install windows as it was suggested. And then your computer needs to be set to "boot" to the CD first. And that's another problem if it isn't.

Re: Password

I know this sounds to simple but is your caps lock on? Also has your keyboard been getting that worn out feel? Count the number of characters in your password then enter your password watching to make sure each key stroke is registered. I have seen both happen more than once. ME, Wyoming

Re: Password

On the login screen you can try clicking ctrl alt delete then typing in "administrator" for your username or "admin" that MAY work. other than that i am actually stumped, you put the password there so people couldnt get on, if it was that easy to get back on if you didnt know the password there wouldnt be that much point of having the password would it, you may have to reinstall windows? possibly? though thats alot of hassle.

How to unlock bitlocker encryption on a external hard drive

You might not ever get it back as the whole point of encryption is security. Having said that, try to remember , was anyone present when you made the password? Do they remember anything, Could you have made it with cap lock on my mistake? You wrote it down somewhere else? Can you remember? You changed it and told a friend on the phone? Did you use a different computer to set this up?
I tell all my clients Go to the dollar store buy an address book with the split pages abc ,def, etc mark it my computer passwords and use it just for that. Best $1.00-$3.00 you'll ever spend. Good luck Bob

Factory reset lenovo g580

Step 1:
There are a variety of reasons you may need to reboot a Lenovo laptop. These can include the installation of a new program, the dreaded blue screen of death or to free up memory that has been hijacked by a program that is now closed. There are three ways to reboot and all are simple to accomplish.

Click on your start menu button on your screen. Click on "Shut Down" or "Turn Off Computer." Click on the drop down box if you are running a version of Windows before XP (such as 2000 or 98). Select the "Restart" option and then click "OK." On XP or later versions, click on "Restart." The laptop will then reboot. Press and hold down the "Alt," "Ctrl" and "Shift" keys simultaneously. This will bring up the Task Manager. Pressing and holding the same keys again will force the computer to shut down. Press the power button to reboot the computer. This feature should be used when the mouse has stopped working and you cannot access the start button. Hold the power button in the "Off" position for approximately 5 seconds. This will force the machine to shut down. Press or slide the button again to reboot the laptop. Use this process when you get the "blue screen of death" or the computer is not responding to either the mouse or the keyboard.

Blue bios password request. cannot get passed.

If you've already tried to get past the password 3 times and got it wrong each time, chances are you might have lost all the data on the hard drive.

Easiest way to get past the password is to take out the cmos battery and hold the start button down for at least 30 seconds (make sure battery is removed on a laptop and/or power is disconnected.)

When you restart the computer you'll get an error message. Just load defaults and it should be fine. You'll also need to reset the clock.

When I start my computer and it comes to users account I try to put in my password but it says not the right password I wrote it down but it seems not to be working is there a way around this so I can make...

When you created that password, you should have had a security question answered that would help you remember what the password is exactly. Even though you wrote it, remember that it is case sensitive. So if your password was

SystemShock2 it won't respond to systemshock2 or SYSTEMSHOCK2, or anything that isn't exactly as it was written.

If you cannot get in, reboot and keep pressing F8 until you get the safe mode options. Log on as Administrator and change the user account password, or remove it entirely.

To log on to a computer as the administrator to reset a password, when that computer is in a workgroup of more than one member, follow these steps:
  1. Log on as an administrator.
    1. Restart the computer, and then press the F8 key during startup until the Windows Advanced Options menu appears.
    2. On the Windows Advanced Options menu, use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode, and then press ENTER.
    3. Select Microsoft Windows XP edition, and then press ENTER.

Note In this step, edition represents the correct Windows edition.
    4. On the To begin, click your user name screen, click Administrator, and then type the administrator password.
    5. Press ENTER, and then click Yes.
  2. Reset the password.
    1. Click Start and then click Run.
    2. Type control userpasswords2, and then click OK.
    3. Click the name of the user account that you want to reset the password for.
    4. Click Change the Password, and then type a new password.

Note If you do not want to use a password, click Remove password, and then continue to step "e."
    5. Click Change Password.
    6. Restart the computer, and then try to log on to Windows XP again
