Samsung SilverCare washer - manual door release?

My Samsung washer started acting strangely, then shut off mid cycle...no lights, no codes, no nothing. Upon further investigation, I discovered a mouse had nested in the control housing and had chewed up the wiring harness! My immediate concern is how to get the door open to save my wife's soon-to-be moldy laundry. HELP!

The first two "helpful suggestions" did not even remotely apply to my problem. It's a simple question: Samsung WF306LAW/XAA - door lock engaged, wiring fried, wet clothes inside...how do I get the door open?!!!

  • badger2607 Apr 19, 2009

Take it to a service center where an "expert" can fix it?? Jeez, I thought I was paying this site so I could get advice from the "experts!" Look, I repair things for a living, so I'm certainly not going to pry the damn door off, and I am certainly capable of replace the wiring harness myself. What I need is someone who knows how to manually release the door lock. I have never run across a door interlock which could not be released manually as is commonly required in service situations. Somebody out there has to know the procedure!

Thanks Blueextc! Though this particular model did not have a toe panel for access, I did manage (from the top) to wedge my hand down past the drum far enough to feel the "tear-shaped" tab you described at the very bottom of the latch assembly. A minor struggle to actually get a grip on it, but then BINGO the door unlatched! I thank you and my wife thanks you. (Her clothes were rescued in time.)

To Manually unlock the door lock system:

1. Unplug the power cord from the outlet.

2. Remove the lower toe panel.

3. Reach up along the inside of the front panel and locate the bottom of the door latch assembly.

4. Located on the bottom of the door latch assembly is a tear-drop shaped tab.

5. Gently pull the tab down about 1/4 inch or until a click is heard.

6. The door may now be opened

You could get it damaged if you force the door open. You should realise that the maching door opens only by electrical means when the washing is done.

Since the rat has eaten up the wires I will simple advise you take it to a service centre where an expert who knows how to bypass will do it neatly for you and also rerun the wiring to enable the machine work after all.

Good luck.

Hi there,

heres how

Step 1: To remove the control panel, remove retaining screws spaced around the panel. They are usually located under a piece of molding or trim that can be pried off. On some machines, you'll have to remove the back of the control panel, also held by retaining screws, to get at the working parts of the controls. Knobs on the control panel are usually friction-fit and will pull off. Some knobs are held by small setscrews at the base of the knob. Loosen the setscrews with a screwdriver or Allen wrench and pull the knobs straight off the shafts.

Step 2: To remove the service panel, remove its retaining screws, then spread an old blanket on the floor to protect the washer's finish. Make sure the machine and hoses are drained of water. Tip the washer over on its front or side to gain access through the bottom of the machine. The bottom of the machine generally doesn't have a service panel because it is usually open.

Step 3: To remove the top of the cabinet, insert a stiff-bladed putty knife into the joint between the top and side panels and give the knife a rap with your fist. This should release the spring clips so that the top can be removed.

Hi

The doors of the washing machine are not reversible.
The doors of the dryer are reversible. To reverse the dryer doors:

  1. Unplug the dryer.
  2. Remove the two door hings screws.
  3. Lift the door and remove it from the dryer.
  4. Remove the two screws on, above, and below the door latch on the opposite side.
  5. Attach the door on the opposite side and screw it in place.
  6. Attach the latch and the four screws.
If still its not resolved then check this manual for your Washer.

Please do accept this solution and revert for further assistance.

Aeg protex how to open door mid cycle

To open door during mid cycle, turn off washer by plug and wait a couple of minutes until you hear a click, then the lock light ( assuming it has one ) will release, but make sure there is no water in the tub before opening the door. If possible when door is unlocked, run the drain setting and let the water pump out before hand. Hope this helps.

My frigidare affinity shuts down mid cycle , and has to be restarted many times in order to finish a load of clothes

Remove top of washer by removing screws in back of top. You should see the tech sheet. Use this to retrieve any error codes.
A common problem with these is a bad door switch. (The part the strike goes into. If this is the case you should come up with error code for it.

Washer stops during rinse cycle and beeps at me

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Lid Switch Assembly If the washer stops mid cycle the lid switch assembly might be defective. This is a very common problem. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any electrical switches with an Ohm meter for continuity. The switches should have continuity according to their design
Door Lock Motor and Switch Assembly If the washer stops mid cycle the door lock assembly should be checked. The door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any switches on the door lock with an Ohm meter. The switches should have continuity according to their design.
Water Inlet Valve If the washer stops mid cycle the water inlet valve cold water side may have failed. Most washers have a cold water rinse and so if they can't fill with cold water they just sit indefinitely waiting for the cold water to enter. If there is cold water to the water inlet valve and the cold water works in other parts of the cycle - or to make warm water - the valve is not the problem.

Main Control Board If the washer stops mid-cycle the main control board might be defective. This is not common. Check other causes first such as the lid or door switch and other components.

Timer If the washer stops mid cycle the timer might be defective. This part is often misdiagnosed, check other components before replacing this timer.

We have a Samsung front loader. Model # WF328AAIWIXAA. We started the machine to do a load, and later we were going to transfer the clothes to the dryer. It appears to not be getting power. We cant open...

Is the display (User interface) is lighting up and on. That means you are getting power.

If display on and cycle stopping at mid cycle and cannot open door.

If the machine water level sensor detects sufficient water in the machine it will tell the control board not to release the door.

Is there is water in the machine. May be your drain pump is clogged. Does it give a error code on display.

Don't force open the door. You will break the lock and you will need $ 200/= parts and labor to change the door lock

Call a local service guy

You can remove the front lower panel and reach up the left side and you will feel a little tab hanging under the door switch . Pull this and the door will release.

Wash doesn't go through full cycle

I have a Maytag model A490 clothes washer. It works fine up to the rinse cycle and then shuts down. When it reaches this point it has become necessary to manually advance the dial a short ways whereupon it will fill with water and complete the rinse and spin cycles. This happens on both the regular and the permanent press cycles. What needs to be done to fix this problem?

Samsung Silvercare hums, but does not run

FIXED!!!! amen. Attached to the back of the washer was a plastic bag with a tech spec pamphlet. Inside the pamphlet were instructions for running tests via the front control panel on the various cycles to weed out the problem -- fill, spin, drain, etc. The test failed on the draining section citing a problem with the drain pump. So long story short and MANY towels later, I found a small finishing nail in the motor. I had removed the hoses thinking there might be a blockage, but found nothing. So I removed the motor and washed it out. Nothing odd there. So I took the front off the motor and found the nail. It somehow made it through the drain holes in the washer drum but got stuck in the motor.  Thank you Samsung for taping the tech manual to the back of the washer. I could not find it anywhere on the web for this model. After discovering the testing available via the contol panel and the simplicity of the machine, I love Samsung.
