Most of the time when that happens it's from a weak motor,it overheats and shuts down till it cools off then will start again, how old is the dryer?mike

one other thing you can do is remove the back panel and you will see a small white fuse, sometimes this ocerheat and pops(it is the main fuse for the dryer)-mike

DWSR483EAWW GE Dryer doesn't turn off when set to "Optimum Dry"

Does the timer advance to the end or does it stop advancing in the middle of the cycle?
If the unit does advance to the end on timed but it won't advance on auto, that means your cycling thermostat isn't triggering. First, make sure your vent is cleaned and the best way to do that is just run a cycle without the vent hose connected to the back of the dryer to see if things change. If your dryer still won't dry properly, then the cycling thermostat will need to be replaced because it's not cycling properly.

Try it on the timed cycle. If it doesn't advance, then you have a bad timer and the timer will need to be replaced.

The cycling thermostat is mounted to the front of the blower wheel housing.

Here is the timer if it is found bad.

Dryer stopped in middle of cycle back was very hot let cool down tried to restart nothing after much playing around bypassing switches and such determind thermal fuse was shot ( pulled off wires and...

I'm assuming the thermal fuse you bypassed is the small one on the right hand side of the element case. Part # LA-1053. Comes with new safety t'stat also ( the one above the element). Use both. T'stat on blower housing is the cycling t'stat. Unlikely to cause problem. You need to determine what caused the failure. Most often themal fuses fail due to improper airflow. What kind of venting does your dryer have. Vent connector from dryer to wall should be rigid metal or heavy metal flex. I see alot of foil venting sold by DIY stores, but not approved by dryer manufacturers. Easy way to check is to start dryer with vent attached, hold top up a couple of inches and look at element. It should glow soft orange. If element is very bright, red hot to white, then remove venting from the back and see if element glows less bright. If there is a noticeable difference then you will need to correct airflow problem or thermal fuse will blow again. Also check lint filter by putting in sink and running water thru it. If it holds water then scrub it clean even if it doesn't look stopped up. Fabric softener sheets leave a wax coating on the filters.

Why is my Whirlpool Cabrio dryer saying AF instead of the Mins.?

Thank you for contacting

According to the manual....

"AF (low airflow condition):
The dryer will continue to run when this diagnostic code is present. Press any key to clear the code from the display and return to the estimated time remaining.

Try the following:

1. Clean lint screen.

2. Check to see if the vent run from the dryer to the wall is crushed or kinked.

3. Confirm the vent run from the dryer to the wall is free of lint and debris.

4. Confirm the exterior vent exhaust hood is free of lint and debris.

5. Confirm your vent system falls within the recommended run length and number of elbows for the type of vent you are using.

6. Select a Timed Dry heated cycle, and restart the dryer.

7. If the message persists, have your entire home venting run cleaned."

Please get back to us if you have any further query.

Have a nice day.

Dryer stops midway through cycle and wont restart just beeps

If it was really loaded with int, it may have killed the motor. You could take it apart and thoroughly vacuum it. If that doesn't work, I'm afraid you'll need a motor

Bosch Nexxt 500 Plus Elect Dryer Error E01

Absolutely those dryer sheets are the root of all evil....I would also recommend a good vent brush to clean your dryer vent.
Follow these steps, it worked for me:
1. use a shop vacuum to clean out the dry vent or a vent brush.
2. Clean your lint filter with windex, hot water and and soft bristle brush.
If this doesnt work try running the until disconnected from the vent for a cycle to isolate the vent as your issue.
