At the bottom of the tape, there might be a switch. Move it and see.

Is the memory stick of sony handy cam minidv trv-18 expandable?

On many cameras , the picture format that you can save on memory stick is not the same that you can have by recording on tapes. It should be tha same on your handycam.

You can increase memory stick to at least 2GB, that is what sony reccomends, you can test a 4 gb to 16 gb at the shop, if it works , then buy it.

However, the quality of movies grabbed on memory stick, should be far less than the one of movies recorded on tape.

See if this works--If you are on battery there may not be enough power .Charge the battery or use the the mains power through the transformer and see if it works.

Sony DCR TRV38

Good Day, you need to supply 4.5V DC regulated to the loading motor, however you should disconnect the connector from main board to loading motor, in order not to damage the driver IC. If your technically inclined, and you have the equipment, do it, if your not sure, just refer it to the nearest svc ctr. thanks
