I have had the same problem! have you tried the power reset?
acers website and tech support suggested that I (copy and pasted)

Make sure the ac adapter is correctly plugged into the notebook and into the power cord.

If everything is plugged in correctly and it still will not power on,
follow these steps to complete a 'power reset' of the notebook.

    1. Unplug the ac adapter. Keep ac adapter unplugged.

    2. Remove the battery and keep the battery unplugged.

    3. Hold the power button down for 15-20 seconds. (Nothing will appear on the display and none of the lights will light up.)

    4. Release the power button and plug in the ac adapter ONLY.
(Please note that a power indicator light should be lit on the ac
adapter when it is plugged in).

    5. Normally power on the notebook.

    6. If the unit does not power on, remove the ac adapter and insert the battery into the system.

    7. Plug the ac adapter back into the system, the battery charging indicator light will light up.
      If
the battery charging indicator light does not light up, the ac adapter
may not be providing proper power to the unit, and may need to be
      replaced.

Power is going to laptop but it will not turn on. Was just using it w/out power cord. Plugged power cord in and it won't turn on. Tried, Alt, ctl, delete but nothing...:(

Try switching the outlets that you're using the power your laptop. You may have a faulty outlet which could be why it isn't giving off any power to the power cord. Next, try unplugging your power cord, then taking out the battery, plugging back in the power cord and turning your laptop back on. If the laptop turns on, the problem may be with your laptop's battery. If the laptop still doesn't turn back on, put the battery back into your laptop, and see if it works. If it still doesn't work, try taking it to a place like Geek Squad in Best Buy.

Hope this helps!

If your laptop has a bad battery, will the computer still be able to turn on when plugged into a power outlet?

If your battery is totally drained or dead, your laptop will not turn on even when plugged in to power outlet. The power from the charger don't have enough power to pass through the battery that is trying to charge. Remove the battery and you will be able to turn on your laptop when plugged in directly to wall outlet.

My Tecra Toshiba will not turn on or off, even plugged in.

Yes it is. And, it is highly recommended that you remove the battery if you're going to use your laptop for more than 1 hour. If you keep your battery in and have the laptop connected to the adapter, the poor battery is going to be charging/discharging so much that its life is greatly shortened. Also, this is what causes dead cells in batteries.
You might possibly have an internal power supply problem.
But, go ahead - remove the battery. See if it helps.
You also might try letting the battery charge for 3 hours with the laptop off.

Won't turn on

how old is the system
could be your internal plug for ac may have become lose from plugging and unplugging
or you may just need a new ac cord
try moving it around where it plugs into the laptop if you get a brief connection then it probably is the connection inside the laptop they can be replaced

Won't turn on

I plugged in the laptop and let it charge for an hour, and then it worked fine. I guess the battery was too low or something.

Have an MT6451. When I press the power button it will not turn on but the battery indicator light in front of the laptop flashes red every time I press the power button. I should also tell you that it did...

Gateway MT6451 laptop. That was easy but the rest is a guess without more details. It sounds like this computer is not plugged into an outlet or is not getting power from that outlet, and that the battery is dead low. Try plugging something else, like a lamp, into the very same outlet that the laptop is plugged into to make sure it turns on. Not the next plug over on a power strip, but the very same plug. If it doesn't get power either, there's hope. Except that your battery needs a good recharge after the laptop starts getting power.
If the outlet turned out to be good, then the power adapter on your laptop may have failed. At this point you'll need try another power adapter and try again. At this point you may need the help of people who can look at the computer for you, preferably friends with a similiar laptop (and power adapter).
I wish I could help more, but thats a start.

Doesn't start up

remove the primary battery and plug the computer into an AC outlet using the AC adapter. If the computer starts up, one of the batteries need to be replaced. If the battery light on the of the comoputer is blinking, the battery has reached a low batery level, which may not allow the computer to start up. Plug the computer into an AC outlet using the AC adapter to start the computer and allow the battery to charge.
