The best way to transfer pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa. Organize edit and share your photos
If I were in your situation, I would stop trying to download to my computer. I would take the card to my nearest Walmart store and use one of their picture kiosk machines to either print all of the pics or even make a CD copy of them.
You'll need a card reader to transfer the data to your PC. These days most laptops and printer has built in card reader. But since Sony camera's use memory stick, some of them don't support memory stick. So,
First check whether or not your printer or laptop has memory stick support, if has then use it to transfer you images. Otherwise you've to purchase a memory card reader with memory stick read support[should be available on any nearby electronic shop].
Then remove your memory stick from your camera and connect it with your laptop.
hi there you need to upgrade the firmware of the camera. Other wise you can do one this. Just remove the memory card from the camera and connect it in memory card reader. Then connect the card reader with PC for transferring the image.
Also let me know when you connect the USB cable between Camera to PC with out install the camera software, what you seen?
When you launched the FinePix Viewer, go to "Settings", and then move your cursor down to "Way of Saving", tick the "Make Folder" by "Date", and then click "Browse" to identify the drive partition/folder to save your photos. After that, click the icon with the symbol of the "camera to folder" on your top right corner, to upload your photos to your computer.
If your Canon A80 camera shows previously stored images of memory card in playback mode but does not show live view in camera mode to take fresh picture then ccd imager chip got defective and need to be replaced. Local camera repair shop will help you to replace ccd imager chip because camera will take apart in detail and soldering work is needed. Thanks.
I just got one of these and was having the same problem. What you have to do is create a folder within the DCIM folder on the memory card (you can name it 100Media). The photos have to go into the 100media folder. Good LUCK.
